T-Stat Help

honyewell 6000 series for quadrafire......cant figure out how to set the swing,read the installers manual,the owners manual,and went on honeywell site...i dont want this stove clickin on and off all the time.

 

I run my stove on the stat. At first I only ran it on stat during shoulder season. Then I figured out that the stove ran much cleaner on stat. I have a p68, oversized for this space I am heating. I had planned on heating twice the area with it when I first bought it, but we made the upstairs as a second apartment for our son and his family. Their area is separated with a closed door so heat is not going up there, just what goes through the floor. So, my stove will come on, fire on HOT, then settle down and shut off. Once the area cools off enough, it will fire back up. I have no real measurement of what is top and what is bottom of the turning off and on, but I don't notice a change in temp. except for when it first fires back up. How often, depends on how cold it is and if the door is being opened much. If the wife stand there with the doors open calling the dogs, the stove will come on even though it is some 20 ft. away. My home is insulated to standards for its era. We have 4 inch walls and insulated glass windows and doors, double space entry, uninsulated cement floor. Good luck with the thermostat.

 

Hey Skeeter, saw in "Contractor. Com" a discussion about the 6000 series saying that you can't adjust the swing temp and that it's pre-set using "CPH"...whatever that is! I use a Lux T-Stat and yes it will cycle on and off as needed with the house temp changing.

CPH Cycles Per Hour....Duh! You should be able to adjust that setting!

looks like im in the market for a 3rd t-stat in one year......anyone know of a good one with adjustable swing??

 

The Lux stats pretty much all have adjustable swings. Jay T. and myself, along with others, are presently using this one....about $48 on Amazon:

I have 3 Lux 7 day programmable T Stat' with weekday and weekend settings. There not all the same model but in the case of one of our downstairs T-Stats, they match perfectly, oil and pellet stove side by side. I have had them about three years and they work great. You can adjust the temp of the T-Stat to say some other accurate temperature gauge. You can also set the swing to whatever you want

I like and have a lux, don't care for Honeywell. Could not find one with swing setting.

 

Just saw it. Hopin my current unit will work. If I need to go to wired unit I sorta have a plan. Why no Quad wired t stat ?

it is a quad t-stat,just made by honeywell,just got it last week from my dealer.......i am not a fuss azz but this is nonsense cant set the differential? wtf

X4 on the Lux, that's what I use.

Looks like you got it figured out. A good programable stat with a swing adjustments makes all the difference in the world. Swing and setback is an absolute necessity in my book. I have one that is set at +/- 1.5 swing and one that doesn't have the ability to adjust at all and is set +/-1. Gonna grab that lux that was mentioned in this thread.
