Not that I would not help you out Well Seasonsed, but having a bulldozer sometimes its nice NOT having a truck and trailer. I am sure if I did I would have a whole lot more "friends". I help people out, really I do, but I think everyone knows how nice people can be taken advantage of. For me it is just easier to state the truth; I have no way of getting it over to their place to do the work and they frown on driving bulldozers up paved roadways!
Well Seasoned I have a Brush Hog (brand) pull behind brush cutter. I don't use it anymore and I will give you a good deal on it. I don't know how we could meet up, but I'm 30 miles west of Albany NY.
Your about 4ish hrs away. How far are you from south kortright ny? My dad had a farm over that way. Pm may be easier....

I got small trailers 12 feet but brush hog is 10 feet long and Kubota with bucket over 17... that's an equipment trailer there... eventually you are going to want one or the field will go back to brush.. After hours you got in to open it you won't want it to go back to brush in 2 years... don't ask how I figured this out..
Ill be connecting with Jack Straw here sometime soon to pickup a hog, brush hog that is! I actually looked up "rock elm" AND "black birch" before i posted a response, because i never claimed that i wasn't dumb either!
When clearing brush like that I would make burn piles every so far. Cut all branches out of the slash so it packs densely and hence burns well. And most important, ALWAYS TREAT STUMPS WITH TORDON OR OTHER PRODUCT TO INSURE IT DOESN'T GROW BACK! I like stumps cut as low to the ground as possible in order to not create punji sticks that will injure people and puncture tires.

I have found the best way to apply is to put in a smaller WELL LABELED container. (Note this is a violation of herbicide handling) Containers such as Sirachi hot sauce bottles, contact lense containers or bottles with a very small opening that can be squirted out but seal well. The cambium part of the bark, (outer sap wood) is the only part of the tree that need be treated. Since it is an RTU, ready to use the Tordon is not diluted. However a quart will last a long time. Tordon generally comes with a cap that can be dispensed and closed but it runs out way to much product. The small trees the OP was cutting only require a few drops. Tordon needs to be applied ASAP.
I got my Tordon in an applicator bottle. It has a nozzle on top that works like a syrup dispenser and you can easily dispense the Tordon around the ring of cambium layer without using more than you need on a stump. With it being colored you can even verify that you got it where you wanted it.
