So over the past month, we have been playing catch up and trying to work on the 3 year plan. Today my 2 sons and I worked in the morning and got about a half a cord split and stacked before the 90 degree heat hit us again. This is the 77th day of 90+ degree days. But i love doing it and my sons enjoy it too.
Nice work with your boys pricless. Always nice to have help but when it's your boys it's even better. Always nice to get the young bloods out doors to help

Great pics! Is that your house, it's beautiful. Some of my best memories of my childhood are of cutting firewood. My grandfather would come over and help my dad and me. Sometimes we would cut slab wood with a buzz saw which ran off our tractor or we would all split wood together. There was something about processing firewood, we all got along really good and had a great time.
My wife was unloading grocerys a month or so ago and a bag broke letting a can of peaches fall on her big toe...that was totally exposed on her flip flop adorned foot. She said she had not experienced pain like that since our son was born. She no toenail there now, but the top of her toe is painted pink to "match" Moral of the story is, protect your toes...so you don't have to paint them to match! I grew up on a farm where we lived right next to my grandparents...one of my favorite memory's is of "making fence" with dad and grandpa...dad had bought a new post hole drill for the tractor, but we still had to hand dig the big rocks out so we could set the locust posts at the right depth...grandma would bring us out fresh lemonade...and IIRC there was talk of something about the phase of the moon being correct to set fence posts (Farmers Almanac stuff I'd guess) Can't wait for my son to be old enough to help with wood...well, actually I can wait, time goes by too fast, but you know what I'm saying...
Nice Joe and good to keep the family involved. Now as for those hot days..... I about crapped. We get ticked if we have 4 or 5 days like that here. I can't imagine going through a summer that hot!
I remember my grandpa and Dad talking about that....can't recall how it was but if you didn't set your post during the correct moon cycle they would get loose.
Yep its been a very long and hot summer down here in the South. We haven't had much rain either. July and August were miserable. You really couldn't hardly work outside because of the humidity. If you wanted to work outaide, it had to be between 6am-11am. And then about 7pm-10pm. Todays high is supposed to be 90 again. But hey, this heat sure does help dry the wood!
