Ok, no pics as I was driving. I'll try to get some today on my walk at lunch.

On my drive to work today in Massachusetts, I noticed that some of the trees have started to turn. A bit early, but a welcome sight for me. Temps have cooled overnight which makes for great sleeping weather. Sunday we have a high of 64. Yes. Hopefully it will be wonderfully crisp fall day.

Our leaves are showing yellow, a little orange and brown. I think they'll change and drop fast!

Our trees are going brown and dropping leaves. Most of the trees around here that lose their leaves for winter are alder. Farther down the island there are more maples to provide colour.

That is unfortunate. The trees around this area are right full of maple. That is where we get the crimson red color that brings in so much tourist money. It is only colorful for a couple weeks, then we get the drab brown and yellow followed by the skeletal shape of the trees. Then, our eyes turn to the evergreens that stand up to the harsh winters that follows. Most everyone has a few evergreens their yard if only for the contrast with the snow.

the maples on the island turn mainly yellow. You rarely see a red maple. Only the decorative trees in people's yards give you any kind of colour other than yellow or orange. the school has a tree on its property that turns more purple than red. I don't know what it is called.

Things are starting to change here in the mountains. It's been really dry here like everywhere else in the NE and trees started to turn early, but we've had a good bit of rain this past month. Hoping the colors are bright this year.

My crabapple source has no apples either. No drops, nothing. I want to make jelly again, so I will need to find a few trees locally. I am down to only a few jars from last year.

    46 is the low tonight.

I believe we had a late frost in the spring. There were no dropped apples under the trees either.

Apple crop sucked here too. They bloomed well but I suspect the frost got them.

I seem to remember you had a truck load of apples last year. Not this year?

Apple seem smaller this year, but still a good crop at orchards. I had one tree doing oK, the other one, not so good. I don't spray, so most of the apples get bug holes. The deer don't mind the bug holes. I think they feed at night.

Apple season was non-existent. The orchard we normally go to had nothing this year due to the lack of rain.
