Splits straight and easy?!?! I wish I had your kind of cottonwood. :)

The first year I burnt nothing but cottonwood....tough and stringy. I remember my maul just bouncing on those rounds at times, but it saved us money when I needed to the most.

    A love/hate relationship for sure!

How far ahead are you, wood wise?

If you are already cutting the trees down, you might as well take the wood, unless you are swimming in better wood.

I'm sitting ok, plus it looks like another elm and ash are coming down next month. Sad to see them go, but we have plans to replant.

Caffeine going in. I have a lot of dirt work to do but we got some rain last night. I'll have to get out and see if it is to wet. Not sure how much we got. If it is too wet, I have plenty of other stuff to do as well.

Morning all. Time to coffee up. Gotta run into town to do some errands then home to split and stack some maple from a tree we dropped last fall. Should give about 3/4 of a cord. Supposed to get down to 32 tonight, a taste of things to come. Trip to the new Cabela's was okay. Prices are a little high on most things. Will go back after the "citidiots" get over the novelty and go home. As expected, it was packed. Everyone have a safe and great day.

I'm headEd to the Drs office, I'm hoping she'll let me drive and take the sling off. Maybe we can figure out when I can go back to work.

Windy morning today. Looks like a week of rain coming up. Last day of work this week and it is my short day. I hope everyone has a good one today.

The rain has come again. And more than I thought we were going to get. No dirt work will be happening for at least a couple of days and some good sun. I ran to Lowes and picked up some things I needed. I will hopefully get to work on the plumbing to hook up the supply line to the barn. Right now it is break time. As soon as the rain stops I need to unload the trailer of this Amish lumber. That is going to take me a while.
