To all . Thanks for the advice on off season storage for your stove which I now realize is very important for rust prevention . Looking forward to the cooler weather :salute:

Highs up here this weekend aren't supposed to get above the middle 60's. I can see the possibility of a morning fire happening.

be VERY careful if using a desiccant for anything,it will attract all the moisture it can...i put one in a small safe once and checked it a couple months later, everything inside was soaked/ruined....pretty sure i wont be puttin one in my pellet stove.

Really? I always used it in my stove for the summer.....never an issue. AND, it's re-useable.

Starting Saturday, temps here during the day are going to be in the 60's & 70's for about 8 days, and 40's & 50's at night.

Yep the desiccant did not cause his safe problem, other factors are involved, when it reaches its saturation point, nothing is attracted.

exactly but up to the saturation point,it sucks all the moisture from here to mississippi and its inside your stove......do what you want.....its pretty simple concept

It would be a problem if the stove isn't sealed, but if you plug the exhaust and intake as well as latching the door then it will just pull in any moisture that is inside the firebox.

I never used one of them things in my stove , I sprayed the inside with Pam works great , and I didn't plug my pipe either super humid this year and the inside of my fire box is 98% rust free. A couple of little spots that didn't get enough spray on them no big deal for me . Do what works for you :D
