I've been going on and off with this job over the past month, little by little. It's slow work since I don't have any big equipment. The goal is to bring trees/ saplings down close to the ground and find a used brush hog to pull with the atv. For now, I'm taking down saplings and small trees. The cleared hill just above the field is the area I've been working from right to left.

The area from a few weeks ago....

Going in the thickest section to work my way right. I will get some 6"- 8" black birch outta this

Very time consuming dealing with all the small chit! We are clearing out this to attain views to the south.

Your future foliage views should be pretty nice when done. Keep at it.

Hmmm, uh, get a bigger fork?
Invite some friends over for an elephant clearing party. Especially ones with bulldozers and such.

If I was close then we would be running it over that sketchy area but I'm sure we could get Gasifier to come over with that big brush attachment.

If I was not 175 miles away I would lend you a hand, and yes I got a bulldozer. :)

I realize today they make the right equipment for any job there is, but affording it is another matter. Two things I have seen on youtube that I really like for land clearing is The Perfect Tree Saw, a nice non motorized felling apparatus for small and big sized trees, depending of course on your equipment's size (compact tractor to D9 bulldozer), and the DR TreeChopper.

You have probably seen these before, but I'll post them in case a few people haven't and want to see what I am referring too. I'd like The Perfect Tree Saw for my bulldozer...

Out of curiosity I looked around a little bit but could not even find a price on those dr tree choppers. I'm not sure they would be good though and very hard on equipment and body.

That DR is cool, and I've never seen it before....... I wonder if that mount would conflict with my plow mount. Very interesting!

I agree with Dennis though, this is gnarly and I would definitely flip off the front of the grizzly.

Woooo. I have not seen either of those. Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Most of the trees I would want out are too big for those, but those are a great idea. I wonder if anyone has decided to take too large of a tree with that DR thingy.

I'd love to help clear any foliage in such a beautiful area, my hats off to you. I'm just 2281 miles away, but if I left now I could be there by Sunday for breakfast.
