My wife told me they've been selling these things in catalogs for the past year. When I first heard about them I encouraged her to order several but then when she showed me what they were I decided against it as it was not what I expected for an adult coloring bood.

Universities have been known for wacky ideas since at least the 60s, there is really nothing new here. I find that the kids I teach are generally quite well balanced, respectful, and resourceful, despite the stories about them. They'll come around, and will prove to be a generation to be proud of.

My current assistant graduated college last May. Her head is on (revised) about 85% straight.
If she and her ilk are the future, I'll not be fretting as much. She's a sheepdog puppy.

Boy things have changed. Back when I was in college most kids just rolled up a joint when they needed to relax.

My wife sometimes does those adult coloring books, but I can't say that they relax her. All I here her say is "Robyn, quit looking over my shoulder!! Violet, no you can't grab those pencils. No, Violet, let go of the book!

JASON!! Can you PLEASE get the kids OUT of this room?!!!!!!

I am a regular visitor to that website, The College Fix. This story may seem comical but spend some time reading the stories on the site and you won't be laughing.

I'd advise anyone that anyone that is easily upset by political correctness run amok or evidence of the rapid downfall of traditional western civilization avoid this website.

If the college kids of today are our future I'd rather an asteroid hit the planet and put us all out of our misery in one fell swoop.

way I see it college students don't seem to pursue the same extra curricular activities we had back in the day. many liberal arts schools seem more attuned to teaching activism than skills.

They have adult coloring books to fend off/help with dementia. It helps old people try to stay sharp or to keep old crazy people happi-er.
So if you old farts are handed a coloring book you now know why.

This seems to me to be a college version of common core.

This is true, its the lack of critical thinking that is really scary.
Friends have degrees in basket weaving (AS) or Adventure Sports (AS) and they consist of nothing but bad mitten and hiking.

Most of them thinking they got through easy trying to transfer to a real school or degree end up having to either doing it over with real classes or not get into a real program or go onto another wasted two years and end up with a bachelor's in art.(BA)

This is part of the huge skills gap we have today.
I have a plethora of skills on paper and experience and degrres in blue collar and white collar work, lotsa certifications in both and I can tell you it's hard to find a good gig.
This only leads me to say, that there are alot of hard working yougins that dont have a good enough high school degree like the 50℅ of baby boomers do.

There are kidos that are becoming heart surgeons-cancer-fixers-engineers, That have to wade though stuff like this to get where they are going.
How many have been suckered into a basket weaving degree?

Ugh! I went to college from 2001-2005, so things weren't quite as politically correct as they are today. But I like the way you worded that, "wading through stuff like this". Me and my engineering classmates HATED taking classes with what we called the "general population". These consisted mostly of nursing and education majors, but you also had some business degree folks mixed in. The lack of basic education from those people (who I assume are all nurses and teachers today) was appalling!!

During the first day of classes, the professor would always run through how our final grade would be calculated, which was typically something like you'd have 2 exams worth 40 points each. and then 4 quizzes worth 5 points each for a total of 100 possible points. Through this point there'd be no questions. Then the prof would explain that the final grade would be calculated by adding all your test scores together and dividing by 100.

At that point at least 4-5 hands would go up and they'd ask a question like "so you plus our exam scores and you plus our quiz scores but THEN what do you do? I'm confused!"

I was amazed that these student's had somehow managed to get through 12-15 years of schooling and STILL didn't know how averages worked. And they used terms like "plus" instead of "add".
