If it's (NEWP) Warm Front pellets, I'd personally spend the extra 30 bucks and get a good softie pellet - they're not "bad" pellets, decent heat, but were ashy here.

There is a store not far from here that sells both NEWPs and Warm Fronts. NEWPS are $249 and Warm Fronts are $289. Same product in both bags, right?

Gotta say I'm with Dpopps on this one. I picked up 15 bags of PTLs during the mad Lowes $2/bag run earlier this year. Those pellets produce enough ash to get an entry in the guinness book, for crying out loud. Will my stoves burn them? Yup. Do I have to like it? Nope. And I don't. Now I bet I just got a bad batch as usual, but I know others mentioned a few times that their PTLs were super ash producers too, this past season. For me, it's not a matter of filling up the ash pan quickly, how frequently I have to do a stove cleaning, or anything like that. It's a matter of having to constantly stay on top of the burn pot to keep it clear. These thing produce such a heavy coffee grind like ash that accumulates in the pot so rapidly, you are scraping it every 4 - 6 hours just to keep a decent flame burning. No thanks, even at $2 a bag, they can keep them. I would gladly pay $4 - $5 a bag (but no more mind you, because I'm cheap too!) for better quality pellets that burn much more cleanly.

To the best of my knowledge: Yes, same stuff, different bag.. It's the printing on the bag that makes the difference. :D

I hear 'ya Will - my understanding is the Warm Front branding is the 'private label' brand that is usually carried by the stove shops in this area,
    vs. the other 'budget' brand..

Gotta love marketing !?#$ :loco:

Tastes great, less filling !

Co-workers swear by Cubex Pellets as an excellent hardwood pellet that burn nice in their Englander stoves .. They order tons and tons of them each season, and get a good break on pricing, when they all order together.

The 2 bags I tried on a swap burned good here, and burned even better when blended 50/50 with softwood pellets in the stove, that was hot stuff !

On my way home I called TSC to ask if they have any softwood pellets, and was surprised when the guy said yes. So I stopped in, hoping to find some of those new TSC white/green bags to do a little investigation, but when I got there is was Big Heats. However, they are inundated with TSC white/blue bags that say 100% hardwood on them. Ran the UPC and turns out they are Ligs. Never saw them around here last season, in fact this is the first time I have seen ligs in the new white/blue bags. Have to wonder if they are the original ligs or if they are actually Genevas, which are now owned by Ligs, correct? Hmm...should have done more snooping.

With your stoves, you can only go wrong if you pay too much. TSC has a current flyer that gives 10% off all items except those already sale priced.

Yes I got the 10% coupon this morning too! If I stumble on any of those new white/green bags, I will plan to use the coupon to pick up a few bags to test with.

Southern states is a Hamer trademark and I'm pretty sure those pellets are Hamers.

I'd be curious if there was a sticker on the pallets that say where they came from :sherlock:

Doh! I just looked at a picture I snapped and sure enough there is a sticker on the outside wrap. It says Lignetics West Virginia. Nice one.
