Thanks Frank and Beans for sharing. Sure is motivating to see what a guy and Herb can do. I just had a paradigm shift. I'm fighting the urge to lay down in the fetal position and stick my thumb in my mouth.
Herb does that all the time. Just the other day ago he laid down in the fetal position and started whimpering about a thumnail that was no longer attached to its host. I hollered at him, "Get back to work, Susie, or I'll rip the other one off!". He got the point.
Great thread F & B One or two questions...... Herb.....and you......? I've heard you can't drink all day unless you start in the morning.....You ever try that.....today?
I stay away from the smokey treats VDubya. Beer, on the other hand, is my friend. I wish I could say I got an early start today but I had to put eight hours of work in first. It was not an overly productive day at work, however. Fridays are like that sometimes. Even passed up my overtime. Gettin' ready to take my boy deerhuntin' in the mornin'. I get a little wound up when huntin' season arrives.
Really? I couldn't possibly have guessed..... Hope you & the boy have a safe and rewarding outing tomorrow

Frank and Beans , be sure to leave Herb at home to do the dishes and clean the house while you are in the woods.
Not a lot of shooting around here but the sun is out again. We'll see but I don't think we have too many hunters out for this early season.
No shots fired over here, yet. The rain really put a damper on things this morning. We just got settled into our spot for the evening hunt. Sure would be nice to get one this weekend. Our freezer is near empty.
None in our freezer either. But then, we don't freeze it. We can our meat so never any freezer burn and it will keep more than a year or three too. Still have some left and I did not get a buck last fall.
One of these days I would like to try canning a deer. Just never done it. My wife cans a ton of vegetables, so it just seems natural to try canning some venison.
Really super easy to do and quick too. We make sure all the white crap is off the meat, cut it into about 1/2" squares or 3/4" squares or whatever, jam it into a jar, add 1 teaspoon of salt per quart and then can it. We've used the cold pack method but usually do the pressure cooker as it saves time.
Just finished processing the deer, so it is too late to can that one. But I plan on getting a couple more this year and I am gonna try it, for sure. Thanks for the instructions.
