I was just talking to a coworker about needing to unblock my exhaust and test burn the pellet stoves over the weekend. She asked why a test run and I replied about checking for exhaust leaks, checking electronics etc).

She got confused over the electronics so I told her the difference between a wood stove and a pellet stove (in general terms anyway). She got extremely confused over the need for electricity and then even more so when I said I heat my whole house that way..

Turns out she thought I was talking about a parlor stove.

Bless her, she at least acted, and looked interested while I was going thru a discussion that was going entirely over her head

"We have ignition" Last night got cold out, the house cooled off "some". So today I got my fat butt down and started getting the stove ready. upload_2016-9-16_17-55-41.png I did a lot of scraping and dusting, and vacuuming. The hard part was getting myself up off the floor. But I did! Glad I don't have those 21 pounds on I had 7 weeks ago. So I plugged in the stove, loaded a bag of fresh "last spring bargain pellets" and hit the start button, setting it on room temp. Pellets fell into place, then smoke, then puff, FIRE. I hate to tell you, but this is very late for us. We have usually had some late August PM fires. Not this year. The bathroom was 64 F this Am. Decided it was time to close the window.

I'm more impressed with the 3 pounds per week you're losing vs. the stove, but that's cool too. ( It's been cold enough here to turn on the Dino Burner a few times just to take the chill off, but plenty of heat gain during the day still. )

Keep up the great progress Larry!

I hope it's doing the same thing to the Winter ticks. They are the ones that are killing all the moose. Unfortunately it's been wetter in the northern part of the state where all the moose are.

It was 66* in the house this morning. Guess it's time to get the stove ready. SoO that's what I'll spend my day doing tomorrow. Like Larry said, this is late for us, but it's supposed to rain all day Sunday into Monday, so I suspect I'll be burning.

Going to deep clean the pellet stove next week for fall. I have not done one since this spring before I found an awesome cleaning lady and I likely burned a ton over the summer. I am too fortunate and grateful I have found the best housekeeper.

    EVER
She has managed to get most the dust out of this home so I think she may faint when she sees the ash dust flying when I use the shop vac and paint brush on it :picard::doh::eek: so I am going to do it while she is here. That way if she has suggestions (and she has offered soooo many common sense ones that really help already. Being sincere here, no sarcasm to be clear), it will either help my cleaning technique or at the least let her know where the fly ash dust comes from.

Hey WW ! Hope you & yours had a great summer, it's been a busy one here.
If she isn't a wood or pellet burner, you "may" want to sneak that cleaning in when she's not around.. To prevent :jaw: .. :bug:

( The ash cloud from cleaning the Heat Exchange area on our stove w/ the air compressor was quite impressive yesterday. ) :picard:

Last night I got home from work, took a nap (hey, I had only 17 hours of sleep from 3:30 AM Monday morning until I got home at 5:15 PM last night), then decided to get the pellet stove ready for burning. I removed the plastic from the end of the p43's exhaust and removed the newspaper from inside the pipe. Vacuumed all around the back of the stove removing cat hair, dust bunnies and making sure the motors and wires were fairly clean.

Then, since I was still in cleaning mode, I decided to get the hard wood floors conditioned so they "weather" the dry winter indoor air and stay in good shape. I vacuumed the entire house then pre-conditioned the floor by mopping with a water/Dawn/vinegar/orange oil combination. The final step was to moisturize by hand-rubbing in a mixture of grape seed oil, orange essential oil and rosemary oil. The 46 YO, beat up wood floors look and smell marvelous now. Added bonus is the rosemary oil should take care of any stray fleas that might have made their way in (haven't seen any, and keep Fuzzy's flea treatment up, but you never know).

All this work was just in time since I woke up to hear Birdie shivering. Yes, I heard him shivering. When he shivers, the whole cage shakes and the grate makes an irritating metallic clinking sound. Since it was 64* in the house, I was happy to fire up the P43 to remove the chill.

It's a nice 69* in here now and the stove has shut down. Have it on a thermostat, so it will take care of itself.

In my house you get 5 seconds or its the property of the dog or the cat that thinks she's a dog. Coarse, They can't tell time so its usually much less!!

Cleaned the p43 today , was curious to see what the pipe and chimney looked like as this was the first year , venting into the old wood burner ss lined chimney up 30 feet . No issues that I can see , this is after 3 + tons were roasted . What do you all think ??

before pics looking into the ss liner
