Wow, that was a hard one. Being dead makes it harder to predict and cut. The lean and the heft of the branches and their lean is another factor to contend with. I've seen experienced cutters have a tree go the wrong way. It has happened to me, but I never would say I am that experienced. I cut for 15 years, but can't say I ever got it right after seeing some of the comments that some of the really experienced cutter here have to say about how to do it, Like Backwoods Savage, Scotty Overkill, or thewoodlands . In fact, after seeing what they had to say, it only for the Lord above that I am not 6 ft. below.

I have watched and learned on this place a lot. I by no means consider myself experienced, I'm imcredibly lucky maybe... I have learned to take my time and calculate each move. And wedges are my best friend.

So are they what I described that stung you-prob 1-1 1/4" long with stripes on the tail? I know most around here are petrified of them and I have never even worried about them-I just mow right over them, both push mower and on the zero-turn-I've stood in them flying around and not a single sting- Bastage nest hornets and yellow jackets another story, they've zinged me a hundred times-glad I'm not allergic either

We call them Hoover Bees. They look like little Yellow Jackets but don't sting or bite. In fact they are fun to play with. You cup your hand and they will hover all around it, but not land. Very curious things. They are actually pretty cool.

When I was a kid we were baling hay towards dark and my cousin checked a hay bale for moisture content by hefting it and it was full of yellow jackets. I got stung 4 times, but one was inside my eye. My parents took me to the ER where it was surgically removed. When you are 8 years old, THAT SUCKS, Wait, scratch that, at any age getting stung in the eye sucks!

As fat as my arm is this morning from 4 (I thought it was only two stings) I can imagine the swelling from a few bee stings would make Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls" song appropriate.

At least it is better than any John Denver song. I am pretty sure Satan uses that as Elevator Music in Hades just for added torment.
