turn the dogs out on it. It will run away and not be in a hurry to come back. Hate the mess they leave on the lawn and driveway.

Wouldn't bet on it. I had two Guinea Hens "adopt" my place (neighbor let them loose after having them penned up for 6 weeks, and they made a beeline to our house apparently - she was pizzed :hair:). Had a Lab/Samoyed, Husky/GSD and a Heinz 57 (smallest out of the group at 55 lbs). The dogs thought it would be great fun to "get" the GH's. Instead, after the first experience of "peck, beat with wings, scratch" cage match, the hens chased the dang dogs around (even the chicken killer husky mix). Eventually it just became a fun game of catch me if you can where the hens would let the dogs chase them for a while, then turn the tables and chase the dogs.

If the turkey has an attitude, it isn't just bigger, but it can be meaner, kind of like geese.

    Its like that old saying
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the bird.

These turkeys are not afraid of anything. They peck and attack our cars as we come in or try and leave the driveway. You can toot the car horn and they just stare at ya! It seems the female is more the aggressor. They just may disappear around Thanksgiving if they keep this up:whistle:

We do have one Rhode Island Red hen that "adopted" our park, but she only comes over once in a while. I think she'd be much better at filling a pot on the stove.

Good news about the drought is that apparently it really affects deer ticks, so that population is crashing this year (after years of bad infestations in the Northeast.)

You know, every situation has exceptions. Like deer that usually run if you come across them outside, except one in my yard that stood there, snorted and kept lifting his front legs up and down. Honestly, I have to tell you, on many occasions, we had turkeys in our yard and the little 7 pound Chihuahua female would go after them and they ran and flew off every time. Miss that little terror. she lived to be 17.
