It looks like I can start cutting so this will be the first tree I check on, if it's down I'll start working on it. We have another bigger Maple down on the side of another hill I get if the above tree is still up.
Careful with that leaner Zap. Not sure how you will tackle that one?? Is the trunk totally detached from the stump?
It's September !! and the pic is dated 11/07/2014 major space-time continuum break going on here. Please tell me it is still September, cuz otherwise I just slept for two or three weeks. maybe backwards !!
I'm betting Zap took that pic a while back and is going to update when he goes and gives it a look soon.... I sure do enjoy Zaps woodland pics and cutting adventures!
The good news is all the moving of furniture along with the cleaning of the house of the family member who died will be done by next Sunday, the lady living in the house said she has a person who will move her out but I'll be there just to make sure. If the tree in the picture isn't down then I'm off to a tree I started but stopped working on because our neighbor came home from the hospital with hospice. The tree is on our property but on a hill behind his house so we let it be, R.I.P Cliff. We have plenty of wood so I don't really need to cut but since it's down we'll GIBIR that Maple.
I've been known to wait 4 or 5 years for a tree to come down you could see this posted another 10-16 times before it comes down so far the members put up with it except Mrs. Backwoods Savage has sent me some nasty emails, she's a tough little redhead but you have to be iffin ya livin with a guy like Backwoods Savage .
I decided to take a ride to the Maple that is down.....well a rotten Red Maple had come across the trail so I took the secondary route, my third option to the main trail is blocked too. I'll get the Red Maple cleared from the trail in the next two days. Pic 0395 and 0396 is that Maple I started on, this will be my next firewood GIBIR. Pic 0397 is a Ash tree in the same area, we have some up here in this area so I'm always watching how the trees look, so far they look healthy.
Looking at our weather for the rest of this month, it looks like we won't have to burn until the end of the month.
I'm debating on this birch, but will probably not take it down due to widow makers above. The birch leaning will need to go first, but that big one that's nearly dead will wait. I managed to buck another birch, but as some said, watch for rot, which some of the rounds weren't solid enough to mess with. The forest here is young.....
Well, that big one that's nearly dead is probably dead inside. Those I won't cut but just leave until they fall. Nasty stuff it can be.
It is a jungle! Woody, do you burn pine inside or strictly fire pit? I agree, alot of wm not shown in the pics.
Yes we burn it inside but only after it's been seasoned in the stacks for one year. This year we'll be burning Cherry for the shoulder season wood.
