I've only seen that once here, we got a "big" snow mid Oct then the next day it went to 65* o_O It's not unusual for us to be wearing T-shirts till then but with cool nights. Last year was the warmest I remember in "many" years. I only burn't about a cord, maybe a bit less the whole winter. :faint:

It seemed more mild here, but I still burned close to 5 tons of pellets, plus some of our bushes didn't bloom because the buds were frozen. When you move up this way, you will have some long cold winters. They are what you make of them. For some, they are happy, for others, not so much. Well Seasoned will find out first hand what a Northern New England Winter is. He is located in deep snow country. Hope he has snow shoes. He'll need them.

Been up here many a winters! We have snow shoes, and plan on using them! Some of best best hiking is in the winter, though significantly harder and more dangerous.

I always seem to notice how many roofs in your area are made of metal. Those who have asphalt roofs can end up shoveling them many times each winter. More and more of them seen in my area also. There is a business less than a mile for me who specializes in metal roofs.

Inventive, my goal is not to have to go on the roof. Many times there is ice under that snow. My roof is higher up. I leave the roof cleaning to others now. Rather pay to have it done than have the roof cave in.

That's a really good rig. I looked into them a few years back, but they were sold out. the front of my house is too high to use one of those, but the back side is better for that. If you think you will have a problem with ice dams on the overhang, there is a ice melt product that you toss up HD has this. [IMG]

I remember those days of shoveling off the roof; sometimes more than once a week! Don't miss it at all.

On our overhang areas we had a heat tape to keep the ice off and it worked nicely but we did not keep them turned on all the time.

We have heat tape or wire on the shadowed part of the roof the whole span. Ive read mixed reviews on them, so I guess we'll see.
