Headed 40 mph down side road when half of a 5 ft diameter oak gave way, branches hit my windshield and luggage rack as I went under. crushed hood, windshield and front end of car behind me. If I was a half second back, or other guy was half second forward, would have had several tons of the big wood on top of the car. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Oh jeesh is that all, almost died by a falling tree? (Tongue in Cheek)

All joking aside, I am glad you are okay as well as the guy behind you! I know what it is like to have the State Police show up at your door, remove their hat and ans say, "I am sorry to have to tell you this but your sister was killed in an auto accident." To spare your family that is indeed something to praise God for. I am so encouraged you praised him too!

Cars are replaceable, people are not. Again glad you were okay. (Now to lay dibs on all that wood)! :)

I can tell by looking at the tops of that leader that the tree must've been cracked or stressed for a while.....half of the leaves are brown. Might want to contact the township or municipality and ask who is responsible for monitoring trees along the right of way....

That one has some issues.....and thank God no one was killed or injured by it....

After a polite period of time passes, don't worry, I will be inquiring about the wood. Not sure if I am meant to have it, or meant to stay away from it.

When Providence provides a sign, does one contemplate its significance or dismantle it and haul it away? ;) As for me, I see everything as a gift from Providence and this one as a particularly impressive one for you. In such cases, I try to remember these words "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me". Providence doesn't need thanks, but if you choose, he has shown us how.

p.s. Hope Providence gives you the wood! :)

I've been hoping some oak might one day fall in my lap, but not quite like that! Thank God you and everyone else are OK!

A polite amount of time for me would be, the amount of time it takes for me to grab the chainsaw... "You Missed!! Now it's MY turn..." :saw::saw:

I would have had enough of that tree. Wouldn't want anymore to do with it. Bite you once, the tree's issue, bite you twice, your issue.
You know one of the greatest part of this forum's assets, are it's member's humbleness, the belief in a Greater Power. Folks here seem to know who they are, where they came from, and a respect for God. In one way or another, we are all brothers and sisters.

Greg, for sure you have to be counting your blessings with this one. That is a bit too close for comfort.

Greg , I was looking at your pics and my initial thought was tree damage from the drought but your not in the NE so I don't know what
your conditions are. The trees here have some brown leaves from the lack of rain and occasional reports of what happened to you, tree and
limbs just falling from the stress. I'd say Scotty Overkill is right on the money, the leaves on that limb all look dead.

Glad your ok, you walked out from under the mighty oak to live another day.

Ha! Beat me to it. I was gonna say, its not everyday you have Oak fall right in your lap...heck, it even tried to load itself in your vehicle!
Glad to hear everybody is OK.
Did you see it coming down as you went under?

Saw what I though was branch falling which hit my windshield, then more racket from larger branches on my roof, wasn't until I glanced in my mirror to check behind me that I saw the whole road blocked with tree.
