They are amazingly silent in flight. Almost ghost-like.

I was wondering why a red squirrel was hauling azz to a brush pile just before I saw the Owl.

Yes he did. I'm sure that Owl gets his share of food in this area or else it would be in another place.

The swamp is about 60 yards from where the Owl was.

I rescued a juvenile barred from a pack? Of crows.
Grabbed my welding gloves and Stuck it in a box and brought it to the vette recommend by a wild bird rehabiltator.

I got some crazy looks walking in with that box!
The receptionist "you have a what?"

    The legs talons were awsome.
The eyes we the most remarkable, dark dark blue and wild like a wolf or yote.

I believe my wife said "A murder of Crows" the other day, I think she was referring to a pack of them.

thewoodlands , on first glance of pic 1, it looked like the owls eyes were the entrances to two hornets nests (no offense). The owls coloring and layered feathers gave it that appearance. And pic 2, The eyes had a reddish color, with the foliage and being set back, it looked amazing...scarey almost

Wise owl, most of them are that way. I've seen snowy owls here and great horned owls as well as a few others. We can hear them in the woods very near our home. Sightings are limited, but we do see them. There is a tree not far in the woods where one lives. There is a huge dug out part, then at the base there is a massive pile of castings.

I was stopping to scan the side of a hill for downed trees, nothing for downed trees but this white blob caught my eye. He was off the trail about 20 yards.

Murder is right. Of course now more people know that term since Dodge has been using that in a commercial. ;)

Hey. I just thought of something thewoodlands. Is that the same look you get when "the supervisor" is watching you and waiting for her turn on the tractor?

That's a great shot. Haven't heard an owl where we are in quite a few years. They are amazing.
