Clearing a little bit of forest for pasture

    Wife and I decided we want to add a few sheep to our farm. We currently only have less than 1/2 acre of lawn to graze, so we are going to clear a little bet of our forest. Wife did the hard work clearing out a bunch of brush so I could come in and do the "hero" work of dropping the trees. Today, I took down 8-9 smallish beech, cherry, black birch and tulip poplar. I've got a about the same amount to go. This should put me over the mythical 3-year plan, at least until burning season starts.

    Looks like you had some good quality time with wifey:thumbs: will you be raising the sheep to eventually add to your diet? makes me think of that scene from "bridesmaids" when they get the food poisoning ...haha sorry wayyyy off track. :whistle: image.jpeg

    We mostly want them for milking, but since we don't have kids and the wife doesn't like the taste of red meat, we are going to have plenty of extra lamb meat and wool to sell to defer the costs a little. Keep an eye on the classifieds in 12-18 months. We will be happy to share our bounty with our FHC friends.

    Yes. We are planning on getting icelandic sheep. They are supposed to be relatively easy to raise, decent for milking, great meat and great wool/hides.

    Don't know much about sheep but
    looks like several cords of fresh green firewood.

    Most should be ready to burn in
    a year or 2. Perfect for the 3 year plan :yes:
