It seems to be letting up now. The snow is still falling good though.

A lot of heat when you want... When it's 20 degrees out it will keep the one end of our farmhouse at like 75 running the stove at 400 STT.. Esse says not to go over 450 STT.. The griddle over the firebox will run 900 plus with an IR gun reading over the firebox side with a good hot fire... You can also close the pipe damper and slide the oven control rod in to keep more heat inside the stove, thus keeping more heat in the house. It will heat 1000 sq ft...They ship a screen that hooks on the chrome rail that you can slide in front of the glass on the firebox so you don't cook your legs... I never use it, just stand to the side if I have to do anything for any length of time... It throws a lot of heat out from the glass... A pan over the firebox side griddle will make a perfect scrambled egg in about a minute...Yet you can slower simmer things as well ... I also have an old trivet I use as well to further reduce the heat if needed... Oven works great as well.. If I just want a little heat I leave the damper on the pipe open and by pass the oven so more heat leaves the stove up the pipe.. Most of the time 300-350 STT is all you need.. Deep wood box option, you always have coals... I put wood in at 5pm last night , and didn't want another fire until like 10am this morning,, there was still plenty of coals, just added more wood... Takes up to a 19 inch split...3-4 splits .. This will all fit in the box.

Was the appliances a "had to" or "wanted them" purchase?

I ordered a work table for my 22 ton Ariens splitter a couple weeks ago, it came in on thursday. Today I worked a 1/2 day construction and came home and installed the table. I hadn't planned on doing any splitting today but we all know how that goes. Split for 4 hours and stacked 2 cords of green this afternoon. The weather was great, 42 deg and sunny...I was in FHC heaven :)

Had my first foray into cabinet making today. Turned out pretty not bad. Built the carcass for the new sink base cabinet for the kitchen. Used my new Kreg jig...awesome. I'm going to modify and reuse the doors and face frame from the existing cabinet so it will be a while before I get it all put together.

Have to build a wall oven cabinet next. Trying to decide/figure if I can assemble in the shop or if I'll have to build it in the kitchen because it is going to be so tall (not sure if I can stand it up without hitting the ceiling).

Then a tall upper corner pantry, and two wall cabinets. A couple hundred bucks in tools and materials is going to save me $$$ not having to buy new cabinets...and make the boss happy in the process.

Thoroughly enjoyed the weather today! Went to kids basketball games from 9-12, ran a quick errand, cleaned up some chainsaws, washed the car and truck, organized the garage and grilled dinner outside! I needed a day like this after the recent cold spell.

Had a pretty good day. Cranberry orange scones for breakfast, shot a ton of footage, popcorn and Labyrinth, went over to Dad's and cleaned his chimney (that makes me feel much better), pork steaks for supper, watched the Hawkeyes win, did some editing and topped it all off with pecan brownies!

When ever you get here :) Get one you'll love it! Obadiah's has a new stove from Canada that has a full size woodstove built in as the firebox with secondary tubes and in the 3000 dollar range instead of 5000 for the Esse... I'll post a picture of the stove... It even has blower fan option with auto snap discs so the fans turn on and off according to the heat..

Go on Obadiah's and check this stove out,, super clean burning, down into the 1 gram category. Lot of stove for a very good price...I'd had bought this if it was available at the time.. It's just been tested this year so it can be sold in the USA...Made in Canada.. Woody is a top notch person to deal with too! Honest and there after the sale! Good people !
