Not for 50 years, but at least as long as they are sanctioned by the NCAA (which is being reduced) and make the news for it. My niece runs a sports bar here and does not air Penn State games, mainly because her patrons boo them and just get mad. She has a million and one Sandusky jokes. The same thing happened with USC, and it will be a while before they get any respect again. If we just let things slide and forget them, history will repeat itself.
How soon we forget the debacle @ Ohio State though. All I'm saying is that the kids putting there all on the field right now had crap all to do with Sandusky and the executive culture that covered it up.
irregauardless of the uniform color, if you can't enjoy whats happening right now, you (meaning anyone) obviously are not a college football fan
I went to college just over the hill from PSU. My brother attended PSU Altoona. My brother loves them and bristles at the idea that Jo Pa was to blame for any of the Sandusky scandal. I don't really care about them one way or another, except there is some mighty fine humor exchanged between PSU and Pitt grads.
Well, if it were up to me, the Loins would not be playing this year. But being as how the Lions are banned from my niece's bar (where I am now, watching the baseball playoffs), I will not be seeing them anyway. We do not like Georgia, USC or LSU here either. Or Dallas or Denver in the pros. They have those team logos in the urinals here. Some people get upset about them, make a stink and get tossed. And we can be fans of the sport if we do not like those teams, regardless (not irregardless) of the reasons, on or off the field. I think it is not unreasonable to expect that people are going to be unhappy with the mention of the Lions for some time to come.
Thats the best part about sitting in bars, they produce some of the worlds greastest thinkers.......................................
