such a nice weekend for a hurricane! spent most of the time on the engine building. we are now substantially complete. still need to build and install the doors, front soffit, air intake (but i have a design in mind now), finish roofing around cupola, siding on cupula, etc. one more weekend should do it!

notice the "tasty beverages" on the sawhorses! Took time out for a nice dinner with 4 generations of the Chester clan.

Lit a fire a bit ago.
    Raining out and breezy.

Fast moving storm, will be through here by mid day.

Sad to see the nice weather go away, but fall is here.

Sunny days will be back in a few though, but their days are numbered.

I know you have no use for "blows". I will say that I didn't particularly like Vista. Windows 8 was a nightmare. But windows 10 is another animal. More like the older system before Vista, but more goof proof. I think Vista can be upgraded to 10. I don't know what is involved now, but the upgrade was free. Edge is working much better now. Fast as a racehorse. Ask you wife to ck it out on YouTube. she might be interested in it. maybe not, but there is no support for Vista.

Naw Vista will be wiped for a 32 bit version of *nix when I want to fight the multimedia software battle.

Battling puters is such a pain.

I go through the mess about every three years or so.

My current setup should be good through 2019 (Long term support) on the Zorin os9 64 bit

Machine running very well now after a few "Teething issues"

Unlike some of the GEEKS that are constantly fooling with stuff, I want to use the machine, not wrench on it constantly.

The only thing I want to do on a regular basis is use the "Wind can" to blow the dust outta things.

The new machine has a power supply that only runs the fan when the power draw exceeds 40%

So far the thing has never spun up.

Great, it does not make noise and suck dust

I try for 10 years out of a system.

But I have several now. Keeps me busy, my Pi 3 is working as is my main system. Both feed the same hdtv.

Will need to go to an IPazzPort to free up desk space.

Maybe a good washing would help ???

I have threatened harsh physical things, but never have done it.

My last go round was not really wanted, but Chrome started having fits and some of my fav haunts were not working right.

Tried to update Chrome and found out that Chrome is not supporting "nix" in 32 bit any longer.

    ARRRRRRGH :hair:

So I decided to build a new machine from the ground up.

    NEW CASE
    NEW MOBO
    NEW PWR SUP
    NEW GRFX CARD
    NEW WIFI CARD
    NEW HDD
    NEW OPTIC DRIVES (2)
    DECIDED TO ADD WATER COOLING.

FRESH LINUX ZORIN OS9 LTS 64 BIT

REARRANGED THE CAVE and tossed out a large table (too big)
Went with a wall mount for the puter.

A whole bunch "MORE GOODER"

I suspect (hope) this machine will last several years.

Likely update some stuff in a while, but the basics should be good for some time.

When OS11 LTS hits the street I will likely get it.

This is a tool for me and as long as it runs and does what I need it is left alone.

I thank the Lord that he is safe. You must be much more at ease knowing that part of the trip is behind him. Do you know if his housing will be military or in the community? I know how challenging it was when I was active duty. I am thankful for his military service and appreciate the sacrifices of the soldier's families.
