I cleaned my stove and threw them in this morning.....great heat out of these but so far a bit ashy, volume wise anyway (compared to others I have on hand)....but if they all burn like this I'd have no problem buying a bunch......

I didn't think they were ashy at all. Not compared to this years FSU's and MWP's anyway. But I don't worry about ash much.

I think I might be a bit spoiled with the pellets I have on hand with super low ash ('Sets, Turman and even the PTL's). I'm going to try and score more of these AWF's tomorrow, they really give off great heat. I hope they still have some left.

I will be headed back to TSC tomorrow for more. Great heat with a nice white flame. They seem to feed fast. Are they a tad smaller diameter? Wish these were around here last Sept/ Oct!!

I think it depends on what you have in the stash or available locally. These were the best I have found at the box store while I could get them. Not in stock so I've had to go to the next best I can find which has been the PTL's.

The 08 Cubex are the hottest-cleanest in my stash. But the cost to replace is a yowzer. So I'm sitting on them unless it gets below -20°F. The Hamers are just slightly hotter and about even in the ash content. But again to expensive to replace. So I'll sit on them too for now. Hard to beat the heat of the $209/ton prices!!

Really can't beat the PTL's, darn good pellet. I haven't tried the few bags of the really dark pellets I bought yet though.

Snagged the last dozen bags they had this morning. Left the two tons of Freedon Fuel alone.

Bought 4 bags of AWF from HD this pm. First bag is in the stove. They seems much harder, smooth shinny finish. We will see now they burn in my stove.

These are a rare pellet for you? No?

Your stove is pretty picky as well, so this is a true test of how well they burn.

You got that right Dex. Picky my stove is. But when sub sailor brought the brand up for discussion, well, I'm up to trying something new. I don't have a ton of them so nothing to loose, and experience to gain. I really don't anticipate this to be available on any regular basis. HD will bring in what they can get their hands on. I get a discount there which makes it a bit better. Last I looked, Lowes has Maine choice and the overpriced Greenteams. Maine Choice is ashy for me. Shut the stove down and did a good cleaning. More arctic air on the way.

Yes. Savemoney and I are close geographically and shop the same stores. Never seen these up here and like he said, don't expect them to be around long. I'm buying them as fast as I can afford. Hoping they stick around long enough to put 3 or 4 tons in the basement for next year.

I think you'll like them unless your stove is really fussy.

Just dumped the first bag of the Premium (AWF) in the stove since the late fall. Wish I'd held off, but at the time, I didn't realize that they were the better pellet, compared to the Timber Heat. Oh well....still have 18 bags from that ton, so we'll see how they do.

Supposed to get into the single digits the next few nights here, and not over 29 during the day until Friday.

Bag #2 in. 31 F out, 72F in. So far, ash not building up. Day 3 will be the telling. Everything going well so far.

Found the Premium AWF pellets locally in Menards today. It's the first sighting of these in the area. I grabbed 12 bags. Gotta clear the hopper of some Sets which will take a day or so and should have them in by the cold snap on Super Bowl Sunday.

Never having burned "Sets" I can't tell you what to expect. But the way everyone raves about them, I'll be interested to hear a comparison. The AWF's were the best box store pellets I've ever burned.

Agree with Sub concerning the AWF pellets. I was impressed with the low ash and heat. For us, a flash in the pan I think.
