Harvesting veggies so if we get rain and wind from Hermine for the next couple of days I have some indoor projects to do.
Mostly boiling tomatoes, and chopping up canning, freezing, drying jalapenos and habaneros.
Cleaning up and making the yard hurricane-ready for the storm that isn't coming.:picard::rolleyes::loco:

Was hoping for some better deals on log splitters this weekend. Sharing one isn't working/convenient.

Good deal! Since you're back at it, I've got some that need a little trimming. :)

9 hours of cutting the acreage at my shop. I need to either bite the bullet and buy a tractor or rent one. The big rental places aren't open on weekends end so its hit or miss. :(

Took the family to the annual Tractor Parade in town on Sat, my oldest (4) enjoyed a few rounds of garden tractor pulling with me afterwards. He might turn out alright after all. :D

Air Force Thunderbirds have been screaming overhead all weekend as the NY Air Show was this weekend so we caught some glimpses of them doing their routine and I saw them flying out over our house this morning. 4 F-16s and a C-17. :salute:

Went for a bit of a bush cruise today. I was all excited for an over flowing truck load of wood. Not the most impressive truck load as you can see but I found once I got into it I was dragging quite a bit with low energy. I'm smart enough to know when not to push it. Still happy for my little score though. The larch is 20% mc and the lodgepole was 16% in the middle and closer to the outside it was 8%. I'll go back in a few days for the rest of the tree. I was up at 6000 ft and was gettin sleeted on. I took a picture but of course it didn't show up. Fall colours are getting into full swing! image.jpeg image.jpg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Most of the time I go into the mountains and do my cutting. I went half on a logging truck load and had it dropped off at a friends place 1/4 mile from me very easy cutting when the wood is in a pile. I have all the wood I need for about 3 years now. Yeah I've been real busy for sure.:axe:

Love them Newports. We had a couple in the 70's. Once had 14 people (mostly kids) in one ...

Im curious Bert , do you mind me asking what you pay for a logging truck load of lodgepole? I think around these parts it would be around $1100, If im not mistaken you get about 9 cord out of it. Even if you have enough wood for several years like you say I doubt it will stop you from getting out and cutting up in the mountains! Im having a hard time right now since my yard is full of processed wood but I still obsess about getting out to do some cutting. I wish I had a small acreage so I could spread it out a bit around the property.

Nice! I knew you would chime in when you got home. I checked out the website link that you shared with us. Looked like a good place to spend a day.

All I did was mow the lawn and cleaned the chimney over the long weekend. The chimney hardly had anything in it and though it wasn't really worth cleaning I ran the brush through it a couple of times. The cap had more in it than the entire chimney! Bringing up a cord of wood to the porch was already done, topping off the third cord in the house was already done, the stove was already cleaned, all before the holiday. All of the wood I cut this year had already been split and stacked in early spring (for the 2022/23 season or beyond depending on my usage)

Sean it's $1100. here too, we came out with 13 cord........ Yeah I'll probably get out and cut more in the mountains come fall and winter, I still have 3 more wood permits and yes I obsess about cutting too. :saw: :stacke:

Sean, those pictures are absolutely beautiful. I'd probably have problems trying to cut wood there as I'd be wanting to enjoy the scenery too much.
