Ahhh the memories - going over Corona Pass in the 2WD F150, probably in 1990. (inline 6, did not spend a penny on that engine, finally sold it at 153,000 for a 1989 F250 4WD with a 460, from east of Chugwater, WY (and we still have that one)).

Enjoying the thread - soon in the market. Have borrowed 1 ton diesel Dodges for hauling a stock trailer. LOVE the exhaust brakes. Use it too infrequently to justify a truck that expensive. Sigh.

Got here late and haven't read the whole thread, but here is my old wood hauler. I have a much newer truck that isn't much of truck and my son the same. We cut wood together, so we bought this old 1988 Ford F-250 for $1600. I wish it was 4 wheel drive but we always take one of our 4 wheel drives when we go so if we get the old dog stuck, we just pull him out. He will haul anything you can pile in the bed and doesn't even squat. Great old truck! Here the old truck is, named "Everette" with me and my grandson Trent. Oh, the Hettinger boys always name their trucks. :)

13 driven empty/easy. 9-10 towing. 3.73 rears. Not much more than half the price of the identical truck/condition with a duramax. How many gallons of gas can you buy with $14K?

Those are fine numbers indeed for a 496 cu in engine!
