Finally got out today to do some stacking. Needless to say, the wood on the bottom of that heap was wet! But some of this wood has been sitting for almost 2 years now. Yes, I'm a bit behind, but we do still have plenty that has been under cover for many years. Besides this wood that was stacked today will not be used for firewood for a long, long time most likely. Why? Because it really is not going to be a wood stack but instead it will become a deer hunting blind! Notice in the last picture the doorway. Hope to get this finished before too long. Maybe tomorrow if all goes well. I don't know why this last picture looks so out of whack because it isn't except for the stack on the left. That one does have a lean to it and has been stacked for perhaps a year. The rest was done this morning until I ran out of gas... Have to blame the out of whack on the camera as sometimes the pictures do turn out this way and I have no idea why. Maybe time to buy a new camera?
I dunno Dennis! I think I see a leaner, or two... That's gonna be a sweet deer blind though! Gooder idear!
Looks great Sir Savage and a dandy deer blind too-I'd use a fold up lawn chair instead of the milk crate though-for back support... And that's a time-tested lean, gravity happens...your pic clarity is fine...
Dennis, that's a deer blind and a half. Excellent idea to use the wood you already have. Hey, if the deer gets close enough to that leaner stack, you can just push and harvest one without a shot.
It's funny, just this morning I had a doe and two yearlings walk behind the house about 10 feet from the bathroom window. You can tell fall is in the air when the deer start moving in the sun of the early morning around here.
Good idea, camo roof for rainy days ? Hope it sees lots of use Not near the sudden stop body damage if you fall out of it, LOL
Motor City Madman : Whack em, Stack em and Pack em! Backwoods Savage : Stack em, Whack em and Pack em! I like the wood pile deer blind, should work great; bring on the harvest and pictures . I'm running out of room to stack and am now considering single row stacks around my garden beds as a way to keep the deer out; functional and it allows me to keep css'in.
How about black? Got some nice stuff from Frank and Beans It won't be long now before hunting season starts and yes, if I fall, it will only be off a stool. I'll think of you sitting in that tree looking for moose.
Yea, if I could see over the vegitation, I'd hunt from a dry ground blind too. Or lower to the ground for sure A Wood stack blind is good idea , be out of the wind too Bugs real bad so far this year, need a frost Rain today. Good luck
Dave, I was working on a different blind today and also put up a tree stand. Skeeters have not been bad this year but we just had a hatch. Still not bad but they remind you of what to expect. Flies were bad today for some reason.
