It's amazing what a few days makes this time of year. It was 28c today. The family and I decided to go do some camping. I'm still burning though, but now it's sitting around the camp enjoying a lodgepole pine fire outside before bed while sipping on an adult beverage. image.jpg image.jpg

So here I am again folks. Kids go back to school on Sept 6, the leaves are turning and it's raining outside with a temp of 7c/45f so we decided to watch a movie tonight and have the first fire of the season in the stove. I have some balsam fir so figured why not. Stove top was 510 but is down to around 475 now. Nothing crazy but feels nice.

I know you mentioned maybe just pellets this winter.........you better just throw caution to the wind and get a stove set up somewhere......you know you'll miss adding to this thread especially. I had 55º this morning but the first burn will be a while yet. Felt good to sleep with the window open and not hear the air conditioning running.....besides the electric meter spinning. I am ready for an electric bill break, no more air or pool pump soon.

I'm right there with you on turning off the A/C and pool pump. The electric bill was bad for July, and I m not looking forward to August's bill either. Finally, some nice weather is showing itself.

Can't like that post, but that is just part of enjoying a good summer I guess. At least we had a summer for a change that the pools got used rather than just sitting there eating chemicals.

Haha! That's what I always complain about. Now that the kids are grown, the wife wants it open for the grandkids.
    I can't win. :hair:

Look at it as a blessing my man....I'd just love to have some grandkids that could come enjoy ours(all we have so far is grand horses, dogs and cats). A young couple from our church live close and we have told them come and use the pool any time you want......I love to see the little ones enjoying it.

I would rather have pool weather. Weve had some hot days or even a string of 4 or 5 of them in a row now and then but its generally been a cool and wet summer. I feel the chances of going to the beach or cliff jumping into a favorite lake slipping away. Work and family plans have made summer wiz by. Its definitely been a year where you want to keep your stacks top covered.

Its rather interesting how our bodies adapt to the season we are in eh? I find the same thing. In the winter I can pop outside in the winter in a t shirt and think nothing of it but when it gets cool out in the summer I feel the need to throw on a fall jacket. I also notice when family come out to the Rockies to visit from Vancouver they are very cold outside on what would be a normal day for us.
Thats hot! I think we flirted with about 93 a few times. The saving grace for us is that the nights cool off drastically so there arent to many homes here that have air conditioning as a little fan in the window works great. Cool nights make gardening a challenge though.

Wow...and I was whining about $115 (summertime bill is usually $80-90)
The news said we had a low of 52* last night...highs in the mids 70s today and yesterday...and lower humidity...niiiice!

Built the first fire of the season yesterday (9/2) morning just to keep the wife happy. Highs in the upper 70's, overnight low 39. Feels like fall, but I'm sure there's another warm spell coming before we're done. Moving 2 year old wood from the stack to the shed. Might actually cut some this season, getting seriously out of shape.
