I have an explorer manifold on my car. It is work 20-25hp over the HO manifold. I think 99 was the first year on the P heads. When they came out with the P heads Ford thought about putting a 5.0 back in the Mustang in 99. They have straight sparkplugs so they won't work with a lot of headers. The Explorer also had a 65mm which can be modified to work on a Foxbody.

Lightnings could get into the 13's. But then there was the Syclone which could do low 13's....in the rain!

I miss the sport trucks! The Raptor is cool and all, but completely useless for most people unless you just want to drive around on the street with mudtires and a super soft suspension trying to look cool. Put that new GT ecoboost engine in an aluminum bodied single cab short bed and let's see what it can do!!

They are all 20℅ give or take for autos less or more if the verter is locked.

You guys are ignoring math, gm trucks do not have a 30℅ loss. Period. fact.

Go to a dyno day and see for yourself.

With all due respect you haven't a clue.
    This is actually borderline hysterical.

Head on over to hptuners or efilive any reputable Camaro/mustang forum even a Volkswagen forum and tell everybody your findings, I'm sure it will entertain them as much as me.

All the gm cars trucks I've personally tuned with a laptop ya know at the track dyno or street have tuned says otherwise.
Using hp weight and et/mph calculations at the track.

All funds dont read the same either dynapacks are super low but are great mobile tuning tools, dynojets vs mustang dynos are also +-20-30hp for a 350-400whp vehicle.

I've been tempted to throw the rusty trusty 230+k trailblazer on the rollers, I know it will come out 20+hp tq above advertised with my tune. I could even flash it back to stock and it wouldn't disappoint.

You guys are blowing smoke, its hilarious.

And yes the 5.0 coyote is the best motor Ford has produced probably ever. Its a heck of a motor.

RAM. I have a buddy that had his turbos go on his Ford Platinum and then the computer was goofing up the fuel amount and it would just about shut itself down on the highway from bogging and loading up and then take off and then repeat, luckily still under warranty, but it is sad it happens to a $60,000 truck. I am not much for gas mileage as much as power when you need it. Hard to beat a V8. Between the 2, I would take the EcoDiesel. Never a Ford guy either. Laramies are nice, got a buddy has a duelly 1 ton cummins.

Boomstick, for me personally it's not that I don't acknowledge facts or math (i got a degree or 2 in it:D) I like to see real world results. Because you know facts and numbers can be altered to fit the cause.. And anybody with a degree in aeronautical engineering can mathematically prove bumble bees can't fly due to mass vs. wingspan. first day at UVA in physics was a proof that 1 plus 1 equals three.. But I do enjoy reading you posts and others:handshake:

I will.. When that little 2.7 has gone under.

Or do you think the 2.7 will last longer? Being a Diesel fan and all?

ok, question because I am not the motorhead, that some are, I can tune my 67 327 with timing light but these new motors when you need a (cheap) 600 dollar diagnostic tool to know what's wrong is past me. Cousin just got older 2004 diesel 8 cyl ford 350 SRW, says he can chip it for couple hundred dollars get 50% more power and 2 to 3 mpg better.. I trust him (cert mechanic) it's his job but how on a diesel do you get more mpg and more power.. he guesses get close to 20 when not towing. oh he's one of those diesel fan to but a work truck.

If you are going to keep a truck for fifteen years you should also consider one of these for reliability alone. The 5.7 liter is a serious power house.

on later model diesels the tuner reprogram the fuel maps, so you can flip the switch make 750hp 1500 tq then flip it back to 20 mpg then flip it again and get mid range and mpg. There are about 6 setting with different combinations they fool the electronic sensors to allow more boost and fuel at different rpms. there is one EFI live that is amazing in waking up the engine

Yeah well, you put a tractor engine in a half-ton chassis and you get a ......... Turd.:p

Seriously, those old Gen V 454s in the 3/4 and 1 tons were 240hp @3600 rip'ems and 385lb/ft torque which was all in by 1800 rpm. Stump pullers, but not fast by any means. Especially since most of them were paired with 3 speed Turbo 400s and 4.10 or 4.56 gears. That engine made no sense as a speed option for a sport truck in stock trim and with a 7.9 or 8:1 compression ratio with those itty bitty heads, a LOT of work/$$ was needed to make them go.

The Vortech 350 was ok in a half-ton. Probably the best option of its time once Ford switched to the early mod-motors in '97. But it was barely adequate in a 3/4t+ and by then folks were catching on to the Cummins/PowerStroke thing in the bigger trucks or sticking to the Gen VI 454s.
