Does that mean "elder logs that are green" or a type of tree called "green elder"? Many, many thanks!
Backwoods Savage, I don't know where or how you came up with all those ditties Dennis, but you did! I tip my hat to you sir.
Not sure if this is folklore, but here are a few of my sayings: "New chain; new file". "Take too much of the raker: prepare to meet thy maker." "Funny how you can rub a pocketknife on a stone and it becomes incredibly sharp, but in all the times I have run my saw into the dirt, this has never once happened." "My 046 was a reliable saw; it outlasted three wives." (sad, but true) "Files are what make chainsaws last". (With a dull chain, you transfer heat to the bar, the bar transfers heat to the lower saw housing, the lower saw housing is where your crank is at...always keep your saw sharp!) "A winch is half your tractor" (On a guy asking how I could possibly cut wood with a 27 hp tractor) "Logging is not about HP, its about traction." "A winch always has 100% traction."
I'll tell you a funny story. Well I'll tell you two actually. (1) I am on a coal burning forum a lot because despite having hundreds of acres of woods, I actually sell firewood and burn coal, but be that as it may, I was pretty thankful for these guys on the coal site for helping me install my wood/coal stove and so they said, "to thank us post pictures of your new boiler...no scratch that, send pictures of your wife and boiler and we'll see which one is better", because they knew Katie is very pretty. (2) Well I told that to Katie and she shocked me by putting on her little red dress and do a full modeling photo shoot on that boiler of ours. Now it is nothing that bad. On a date night she'll put her little red dress on and go out in public, and while it is not a dress she would wear in church per se, we do go to church every Sunday so it is not that bad per se, but I don't want to offend anyone on here, though I am sure a trip to Walmart would let you see someone in far worse attire.
It is a WC-90 New Yorker wood/coal boiler in case you are having a hard time seeing the boiler. The interesting thing is, I was about to fire it up, but then said woman in story (wife) decide she wanted to use the room for a mudroom and build lockers inside it for our four daughters instead, so I never did end up using it. I moved the boiler out into a shed for now. Kind of silly to set it up and move it, but you can argue with said wife; I'm not! Happy wife. Happy life. I was very respectful to you guys however, despite most of the pictures being taken with her shoveling coal into the boiler, she has a stick of firewood in her hand.

I could not agree with you more. After being a prodigal son for 17 years and doing my own thing, failing miserably and finally realizing I had ate enough pig slop; I asked for forgiveness. Like the father who ran to meet his son, God did not just bestow upon me a mediocre remarriage, he gave me a great one. We have long conversations about God, the bible, our children's lives, and missions. She doesn't squabble about buying log trailers knowing what true investment is, and built a sheep barn while waiting 5 years for her new kitchen. Katie is a Proverbs 31 woman for sure. The fact that she is pretty is just proof of God's abundant Mercy and Grace.
