    Hi Dexter
The big hopper and ash pan is really nice,
How often did you have to empty the ash pan and vac it out?

Good to see everyone's still posting and getting ready : ) I just finished painting the inside of my stove and put a container of Damp Rid in the fire pot area , should I also cover the outside exhaust to keep the humidity out ? :dremel:

I cover the outside exhaust to keep humidity, critters and bugs out. Usually disconnect the OAK, but didn't for either stove this year. No damp rid this year either. Out of curiosity I checked the P43 about a week ago and no rust (KOW). Haven't looked at the P61, but figure it is too late in the season to do anything different and make a difference anyway. Been such a dry summer for the most part that I'm not worried about it.

Just looked in both my stoves the Accentra is clean , I still have to do the outside pipe which is still connected
, I sprayed the inside with Pam this year . It's been a steam bath here this year inside is 99% rust free  I'll be doing that again next year .
The p43 is still dirty and will stay that way until Sept .

I used to do it weekly. Then monthly.. Then, I let it run almost a whole season and the ash was over the fire pot level. These Quads can run, and run, and run, and.... All this was over the course of 5 years. I kept up with it very well at first. Then I tried to push it to see how far it would go. The CB 1200 is a BEAST!!

This was the last year I owned it and only cleaned it once. Just before this pic (only cleaned the glass once as well).

I loved that stove. If it had High/Low? I would still own it. I just hated the constant on and off cycles.

For anyone that knows how deep the firebox is on a Quad Classic Bay? They know that ash is well over a foot. Probably closer to 1.5'.

Probably more than any 1200 has seen. And it was never cleaned till that point. I know it was over a ton. . I should've counted. I started the test to beat imacman

After plugging just a few of the holes in the 1200 burn pot? I didn't even have to pull the clean out rod. I left all the holes in the bottom of the pot open. Plugged most going up (about half).

The Quads are great stoves for sure.

The only issue we have with the old 1000 series is that the air holes in the bottom of the deep fire pot get covered with hard glass like clinker and then the thing does not get enough air and coughs out black smoke real BAD

    CHEAP BLAZER PELLETS :picard:
But thats the way it is, low cost gets more crud.

I do see the flame get a little darker with a tad more smoke , and even when you pull the burn pot cleaning handle they won't fall through so I just open it up and do a quick vac every 3 days . This year I plan on pulling the burn pot clean out handle twice a day and do a decent cleaning once a week . :dremel: That's why I try to run the high end Pellets when I can .

    Fire ON
This year we have had a fire in the stove sometime every month.
October to June is a normal fire season here, with June being hit and miss, usually all done by the first week or so.

Normally July, August and some years even September is fire free.

We had 2 fires in July, 1 in August and now we are starting September with a fire.

I could have lit it off yesterday but the sun came out and things warmed up fairly well till bed time, and then we just added another blanket.

This morning was just not gonna cut it.

It's amazing what you find when you're deep cleaning . I guess this is an air intake box at the bottom . IMG_20160905_171403.jpg
