Well if you dont NEED the vehicle right now and are willing to walk away then you will get the best deal. I have done that several times and got "my price". Once as soon as my hand hit the door. Another time I made it off the lot and called the sales manager from my cell-I immediately got what I was looking for. ALWAYS call to talk , buddy up and schmooze the sales manager a little before you even get to the dealer and then let them assign a sales person. I never start a transaction with the sales person. You are playing their own game on your terms here.

    Final conversation went:

    Me-Hey xx, what's up?
Mgr-Where are you, arent you still here?
Me-No, on my way home-couldnt come to agreement
    Mgr-What? Where are we at?
Me-Told him my price and conditions
Mgr-Come on back and you have it

If they cant match price but can be in the same ballpark, I will pay a little more for this type of dealership. It can pay off if future warranty work is needed and some grey areas pop up.

I just checked and they do not have any 2016's. I don't think they have the volume as this CT dealer does. But they do move what they get fairly quickly.

I'm not good at the buyin part, But learning. We wanted to take advantage of the current deals. But were not in any big hurry or rush. Just shopping for deals was the first thing I told the dealers!!
It was going to take the right deal or we would just keep looking.

The dealer and manager did see we weren't very interested and were not in any rush. I just kept saying no, And what else ya got. Gave the kid a bit of a work out. He finally talk us into the ride in the 2014 or I would have left. Then the bargaining started. When they copied my license for the test ride, I think they ran it and saw we had bought multiple fords over the years. I was pre qualified for lots too. But even when they mentioned the new one, I was like nah. Don't want that big a payment. Funny how the price can change so quickly. I guess they need to move something or make a quota??

"But sir", Was heard quite a bit. "How about we throw in" was heard a bit too............ As the wifey held tight to the check book!! :D

Back around 2010, me and my honey spotted a new loaded with all options Dodge Durango on a lot that caught her eye. She looked at it and walked away when a sales person said "dont be scared off by the sticker". When all was said and done she paid less than half the sticker price before we negotiated a trade of her 3 year old Suburban.

But that Durango was a dog. Very top heavy and felt unstable at highway speeds. It was totaled in a winter accident on iced over roads-T Boned by a tank of a vehicle-old full size Jeep

That was here one and only downsize of a vehicle. Its full size trucks again for her.
