The reason I mentioned the balancing of MC is that I did read it. I can't remember where, but the argument was that the net effect was to lower MC in a burn with higher MC wood by adding the compressed blocks. Probably it was a compressed block company that stated that.
I'm thinking it was at tractor supply where I was last week and they had pallets of the bricks setting outside and a sign with the price but I didn't pay any attention to the price so can't help any there.
I use a brick or two occasionally. If I get a load that just doesn't want to take off real well, I'll load a brick or two on top and off it goes. It seems to get the secondary combustion going good, which brings the stove temp up to normal...the rest of the burn cycle will generally progress as per normal then.
Could be I did not know what I was looking for; what is the TSC number so I can look it up and see a photo.
Not sure you could see it, but if you need to ask, give them this SKU #..100126199, as noted in Eric's screen grab post. My experience is they don't light real easy, but they burn well once they get going. Adding to firewood should help.
What you will find at the store is these, plastic wrapped in blocks of 6 or 8...usually a big stack of 'em sitting on a pallet somewheres
Don't get confused and buy these bigger ones, I've heard they are no good RedStone Fuel Blocks - For Life Out Here
I stopped at Tractor Supply but did not see any of the bricks; I didn't ask because there were only a few clerks in the place and they were all busy and I did not want to wait. My guess is they have them but have not put them out yet because the temps are climbing back to the 90s (F) so who is thinking about heat except us hoarders (well, hopefully a future hoarder here). The 8N is down while I fix the distributor; my friend told me not to worry about the bushings and just get the points and condenser in but dang it. I like doing things the right way but yes, I do need to be hauling wood. Let me see what I can get out with the hand trolley. Someone mentioned about a mini GT but I really have no room for that. I do have some trees that would be a challenge to those that know how to fell trees; me I would not go anywhere near them. All vehicles would have to be down the drive and no room for caravans or such.
All you have to do is go to their website put your ZIP code in and you can find out whether they are in stock or not
