Began working on replacing what we will be burning this coming winter. Widened the trail, this week, to the top of the property so I could get the tractor to the top and began pulling logs down. This pic is the second two loads pulled down today. First two loads are split and piled (will stack when cooler). Each day this week has been a 3 t-shirt day (sweat). Too dang hot (93 deg) but I need (want) to get started. Chestnut oak and red oak today. Pile is mostly red oak, then chestnut oak, some maple and hickory, with a small amount of sassafras. This will be 2018- 2019 wood. Ten cords stacked behind the pile. Twelve more cords stacked at other places on the property. Gotta get er done.

It is crazy hot and humid here in va and supposed to be that way for another week at least. If the good Lord is willing, I will be on the farm tomorrow cutting wood. Or at least shooting my compound bow and checking trail cams.

Be safe out there men and stay hydrated

It's been awful weatherwise here for the past month now. I'm hoping for a break soon. Until then, there probably won't be much wood work being done except to get the stove ready for fall.

I'm ready to trade weather patterns. I need a warm up.
Snow on the hills for the last couple of days, been burning at night for the last four nights or so. Too soon, it's not even Sept. yet.

What elevation are you at beetle kill? I've always wanted to visit CO. I've looked at running a trail race out there but yaw's mountains are quite a bit larger than the Appalachian ones I'm used to running on,

Hopefully you guys east of us you will get some of our weather, last few days we just got into the 70s. So much better than the mid 90s and uber high humidity of July and early August.

    Stay safe all.

Looks like we may cool down the second half of next week. Now if we can just turn the rain off.

I went and cut today. Vehicle thermometer said 93 around 1pm. It was even too hot to eat. I did manage to scrounge a full trailer load of wood. Most of it was bone dry locust out of one huge tree.

I'd take that deal if I could! Forecast is for high 80s or 90s most of the next 2 weeks. Not quite as humid though and evenings are starting to cool down a bit more. Fall is definitely coming but it's taking a while to get here!

Weather forecast is calling for a high of 83 Friday. I am really looking forward to trying some of that. Still snaking logs, bucking, splitting, and piling a couple of hours in the morning and an hour or so in the evening on these 93-95 degree days. Sweat pouring, even in the morning (constant dripping from the brim of my camo baseball cap). But the future BTU's are getting accumulated. A little bit at a time does pile up, eventually! BTW, I am hoarding for 7 stoves and 4 people. Myself, my dad, my brother, and my son. Need more!!!!

Pile for the past week. I have surprised myself at 63 years old. Lots of hydration going on here.
