bassJAM your area and mine are similar.. first I don't want upper trim levels.. for me it's a work truck.. but I do understand people that do... but a 7 year old truck with 80k is still 20k plus here. new truck, with discounts in February last year model etc etc is 29k.. lowest trim level ..

this is 4wd only .. 2wd here are cheaaaap! kind of like selling car in Florida or Arizona without AC...

I also keep my vehicles til they die so a lot of fancy stuff breaks gets expensive.. try to find a truck with roll down windows.. my 67 in garage has them and they still work.. I know it's dumb but a car that windows won't go down won't pass safety inspection... cause if you go into river you can't get out.... nobody thought that battery and electronics don't operate well under water either:jaw:

Thanks guys....! Wish I could do some tuna fishing now that I'm off... but the fish have been hit or miss so it's not worth the trip for us right now. And, I have a broken wrist, so I can fish/hold a rod. I could capt the boat and get the guys out there though, which is half the fun for me. ;-)

That's amazing.... I don't think we have those rebates here in NY. None have been mentioned to me.... but usually, the rebates are just off the jacked up price and you end up at the same price anyway, most of the time.

On way to go look at and test drive another black 2015 Platinum... The search and decision goes on. ;)

Keep the arguments coming! The more info I have, the better

Those high rebates on are XLT's, which always get better rebates. Lariats have maybe $2000 right not, I'm not sure if King Ranch and Platinum's have any rebates at all.
Rebates actually come from Ford and not the dealership's, so often even strong negotiating won't get you to that price because the dealerships would be losing money. Ford, on the other hand, makes a TON of money off F150's.

Wow! I suppose it's due to the new body style hitting lots but I've seen 2 lariat dually 6.7's off the lot for 55 and 57. That's insane for a half ton! I haven't looked at the half ton trucks in years and didn't realize they had climbed that high!

Sorry to hear of the job loss, that is never good. Feel bad about busting them now, former Strongislander here. Grew up in Lindenhurst and settled in Holtsville, moved to Ohio in 90. Next stop St. Croix USVI, down to about 6 months.

PS I would buy the Dodge, how long do you think that little twin diesel is going to last running it to the max all the time. It might get to the top faster but how many times can it do t before it blows up. Heck it probably is faster to the top than my CUMMINS, but my CUMMINS can do it ,daily, year in and out, come see me when it has 500,000 miles on it. Not going to happen.

Hey Machria I assume you don't know any current/retired Ford employees do you? If you could get A, X or Z plan price on a new one...they get an amazing price...probably cheaper than any low mileage used one. I used to love AXZ plan customers...no screwing around...pick a vehicle, write it up, the price is preset by Ford.

I'm late I know. And I'm sure at this point it has been pointed out but I'll go ahead a D say it. DexterDay had the dodge ecodiesel.

But I have neither truck but have a new dodge 1500 v6 as a work truck. I would see if I could find a lower mileage ford personally. I don't love dodges. And the Eco boost gets great mileage without the extra costs of the diesel and the possible SCAR/EGR delete and reprogram in the future to make it reliable long term. The Eco boost has amazing power and tow capacity and sips fuel empty and even loaded.

Empty I get about 28 MPG in the Ecodiesel. On my last 800 mile trip to Virginia (Hills). I got 27.0 empty. Loaded, I still get about 20-21 MPG. Better than most modern SUVS and some mid size cars.

Fuel mileage in the Ecoboost sucks. Not sure where or what you read.

I posted pics a page or so back if you'd like to see them.

While it's impossible to keep all political discussion mute, let's try to leave out candidate specific references. :tip:

Right.. Italian, single Turbo, and a diesel.!!

    Great combo!!

I did miss that. And I'm at almost 6,000 miles since May. I try not to drive it to work, that's what the work car is for (57 miles one way... :( ).

But you can blame me. I did months of research, reviews, price points, costs, etc. One of my best friends has the larger Ecoboost in his 2014 F-150. Nice truck, it may haul a trailer faster up a incline with a 9,000 lb trailer. But that's what two turbos do. It will only Rev higher and wear out faster.

He even likes my truck more than his. Especially when the numbers are crunched. And DEF is only expensive if bought at the store. Go to a truck stop. All their diesel islands have DEF for around $2 a gallon (not $16 for 2-3 gallons at the store). A full tank of DEF lasts over 5,000 miles (6 gallons if I recall). And diesel by me was cheaper than gas a few months ago. But when you take the added fuel economy in to the equation? The DEF and diesel is still far cheaper.

Again, everyone has thier opinion. They all have their likes and dislikes. I wanted a Cummins. I went into my search to buy a new 2500 w/ a Cummins. But after 3 months? I went the half ton route because of several reasons. All of those reasons pertain to me. What I haul, torque, how far I drive, and MPG for the 1st 3 reasons.

    YMMV.. :)

Both are nice trucks...personally, I don't want the Ecoboost or the ecodiesel, I am old and can't wrap my head around these engines. I want to buy ironpony Cummins when he moves to theUSVI!!

I like the way you think!!

That gasser will wear out much faster. More RPM equals less life. You turn 8,000 and I'll turn 4,000.

I do love the look of the Fords. Dodge gets 3rd in the looks department. GMC/Chevy has the looks at #1! The new Ford's are slick at #2.. But function over form is where it's at!!

Yep Ecoboost is nothing compared to that. I am comparing Ecoboost to say a new to 5 year old normal ford v8.

Those numbers you have seen are great. You can run that for 5 years or so till warenty Is out and save up the rest for the delete later.

I'm a die hard Cummins guy, I am currently on my 13th one. I am not particularly biased on Dodge even though I am a FCA employee and get a pretty good discount. However, I went on a trip with a buddy in his Ram 1500 Eco, l ended up more impressed than I thought I'd be. Rides a hell of a lot better than my 2500, and the mileage was around 26 figured by hand at the pump. I need a 2500 cause of the trailers I tow, but if I didn't, I'd be all over a Ram 1500 Eco.

Not that it's an option Machria was looking at, but I did take a Chevy Colorado for a spin and yes it did indeed have the 2.8L DuraMax under the hood. Pretty nice little truck for those who don't haul or tow heavy. My favorite part? That little four-banger diesel growl. I didn't expect that to be so, enthralling. But I couldn't help but lean on the pedal and giggle.

I like trucks. Big 'uns or little 'uns, don't matter much to me. They're all cool.

Factor in the cost of gas vs diesel and you will see there is not much of a difference.
