Any user experiences with these brands? I have Monday off and want to pick up a ton of something for shoulder work. These are close by....
I've burned Ez Blase , I liked them a lot softies from the South , they come in 2 flavors straight softie and a blend , about = in heat and ash blend is about $10 / ton less .
I burned quite a bit of the ez blaze. The straight softwoods didnt do so well in my old stove they left everything black and greasy but the blends did really well for me. . I Would buy more
I've chatted with a few peeps that have tried the SYP(a few different brands as well) and similar issues. Specially if burned low and slow. Seemed to settle out once they cranked it up to higher settings. Another bud had no choice but blending them with another pellet to rid his stove of the ugly mess. Bought a cheap hardwood blend and then mixed the 2 to make the issue went away. I think it might be something in the woods natural resin??
I think It had something to do with that p.o.s us stove. Im going to have to retest them in me new harman this year
The Okanagan Golds did the same thing to my stove. Also created a big old speed bump in no time at all. I think JT is right about the resin in those SYP pellets, not sure what else it could it be?
Was always taught throughout life never burn pine. I was shocked when I started hearing people burning pine pellets when I first got my stove. Maybe it has something too do with it yes
Out west its all they burn and no one has any issues. I think it has something to do with the seasoning. I have burned pine but would never burn it unless it had seasoned for no less than 3 years. And I never cut the wood in sap season. Pellets shouldn't have any of the worries as cord wood. But could be if they cut in sap season. Or don't let it sit before chip/milling it could retain some of the sap? With some playing, Seems if you mix in some hardwood pellets the issues literally disappears. Why? IDK really. Just suggested the ones that had issues try it and it worked for them. So if you see it with the Herman, Try mixing with a cheap hardwood blend.
Greene Team did this to my P68 and a friends XXV years ago. Havnt touched them since then. Sticky as hellz too, boy was it a PITA to clean. It was after this year that Lowes decided that they were super duper pellets and started charging crazy prices for this mediocre chit.
Never got any greasy stuff, But burned dirty as all get out in mine. Cranked out some crazy heat though......
Green team did ok for me. Very ashy though. Not at all worth 7$. Has anybody else noticed lowes has been stuck with them for awhile. I see them out back around here all wet puffed up and rewrapped from last year.
At $7 I'm not surprised they stuck with them . What I can't figure out is why they keep bringing them in and why GT continues to command a higher price , they maybe the next pellet company to go belly up
It was more sticky chit than greasy and it was a beatch to get off. This was back in 2010 or 2011? I burned 4 ton of it in 2009 without this happening, so it may have been a "lot" issue. Either way, once I found softies and then Lowes cranked the price of GT above the top shelf pellets it was a no brainer to pass up Greene Team.
I think that some are falling for the "its more $$ so tts better" philosophy at Lowes. Just ask almost any employee at Lowes and they will tell you that people swear by this brand
Unfortunately they command the price bc they are selling. Leaves more hottie on the street for us! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
