My friend runs a mobile saw shop too. He had a few bars from the last fire he went on. The firefighters turn them into him for new ones when they get them stuck in a tree and get bent, some are easy to fix.
Went to a little shin dig with a few friends It was a just over 6 hrs one way.. But the Ram got 27 MPG!! Had a blast and prob cut and split about 5 cord for a friend! Oh, pics of the saws....
Last day of State Fair here yesterday, weather was perfect - mid 50's this morning mid 70's now with low humidity.Much nicer than the sauna 95 with 104 heat index last Thursday when I waved the white flag lol & was home by 330PM. Oh yeah - there's these 2 permanent trailers that are home to a small custom Redwood Sign Making Business from California. One trailer is located just inside the West entrance gates, the other is near SE part of Fairgrounds, just outside the Cattle Barn on the eas...t side of Rock Island Avenue. Yellowstone Signs is their name. They do all kinds of custom work, pretty much whatever design & size you want.... I had this very simple yet classy sign made this afternoon, from 1 x 8 x 24 2nd growth Redwood.Am very pleased with it,I think its awesome
No 562.. Sorry buddy Thanks bud!! I've only had the Ram since May, but to average 27 MPG going through the hills of VA and West VA with just under 6,000 on the odometer makes me love that truck even more!!
Another good Craigslist score. CS4500 and 500VL, 4500 runs great, going to have to find brake handle. $75 for the two saws, two scabbards, 2 extra bars and a dozen chains. Oh, and serial number of 500 is 0011xxx.
Router with templates, other attachments I'm pretty sure. Funny I walk by that place 2-3 times every Fair visit (normally 2 days each year) for the past 20 years & always liked the work they did on display. But never thought much about it until Sunday the last day for this year. Just had an idea in this addled mind of mine, wanted to know what it cost before just going up & saying "I'll take one!" Drew them a rough sketch on a blank invoice they gave me,told me what the price was & that it'd be 5-6 hours later in afternoon before it was finished, since they were already working on other people's orders. Thought it was a very fair price & asked "You take debit card I hope? "
Now we're talkin'!! King of the Forest, the West Coast legend, early -mid 70's Super Pro 125!! Made any cuts yet? If not, hang on to that beast, you're in for a surprise. Hadn't run mine since late April after installing the new clutch drum bearing & making a couple cuts.Fired it up one Saturday night a couple weeks back, just before dark Forgot how loud that monster is,even at idle for a couple minutes.I'm sure the neighbors in a 2-3 block radius remembered it however Still popped on first pull even after setting so long thanks to that electronic ignition module upgrade installed in spring 2014
Took a couple minutes Friday after work, found a spot in shed for the new sign. Also latest acquisition arrived via UPS this afternoon McCulloch 47,a 4.7 cube/77cc gear drive model their first one with the ''new'' all position diaphragm carburetor vs the old float bowl type.Produced from September 1953 to December 1956,it was a very reliable unit in its day & is my oldest Mac. Cleaned it up some, its far from perfect - has some corrosion underneath, including a hole in corner of lower gear case you could almost stick your finger in. That's what sitting 30+ years on a dirt barn floor will get ya....But it was cheap enough, has strong compression & everything moves like it should. It looks OK sitting on the shelf as is or I might decide to search for the needed parts & restore it in the future. It's not a common model & don't show up very often. Now its off to work.Working nights 530PM-1230AM Sun-Thur for next 2 weeks at a local hospital remodel downtown. Not a bad gig really, work is a bit easier than I'm used to + inside remodels are usually a slower pace than a new building going up during daylight hours.Plus we (5 of us on this location) work 6.5 hours, get paid for 8 Will probably have a 4 day weekend also, what with Labor Day being next Monday, havent heard officially yet.So that'd be a bonus....
My latest acquisition. I found it under a pile of junk in my grandparents basement. ( in the process of moving my grandparents into a smaller more manageable home they are in their late 80s ). My grandpa said to me what the hell am I gonna do with it? Please.. take it! Obviously not something that I'm going to be using but it's definitely a piece of my grandfather that I don't at all mind keeping with me for the rest of my life . Just for the record I put some mix in it and she fired right up, third pull!
Yes Sir I have ran it. I dont have any wood at the moment to really put it to use as designed. I have several others here that are much quicker with a 28" buried.
