Just checked. NYC still running in degraded status since 2014. The signal cuts out right below my area. Tax dollars hard at work.

Can you believe it? Had to let the dog out just now and I could see the weather for myself. The little weather station I have does a good job of forecasting the coming weather too. Now, if I could get warnings, it'll all be good. I'm sorry I even looked up the stations. I might be able to get a Connecticut signal that's close, and that would be alright if they include Danbury.

 

There is one station north of me that I might receive with a good antenna. The only issue is they have my area as no signal for a couple miles around me. I think this is one station I picked up before but never got the alerts. Going to look for a radio and antenna combo.

 

Depending on your phone and apps you have installed, you can also get severe weather alerts on your phone. That was how I found out about the tornado warning here Saturday.

I have a weather radio but don't usually have it on unless nasty weather is forecast, and nothing but general thunderstorms were forecast here Saturday. Just goes to show that science can't outsmart Mother Nature. In defense of the local NWS office, they did a good job of providing warnings. No fatalities, no injuries, and that's all that really matters.
