rottiman just thought you might like to know that the neighbors (in town) have visitors that have brought along a rottweiler. it has a deep bark and would rather lay and bark at you then come over to their little foo foo dog fence to investigate you. It is a mellow watchful dog, they were up about a month ago and made friends with it then.

BTW, these are the same neighbors that had the three foo foo dogs that one of them would bark incessantly l every time it was outside.

    That is done now....

Yes Dave, most Rotts are really usually quite laid back. Like anything, it is how they are raised and trained. I will say that they are loyal to a fault. The bark is hilarious. Bear used to bark @ strangers who were walking down the road which was about 100' from the house and you'd think the bark originated from his tail forward. They'd start looking around to see where he was coming from, all the time he was inside the house. It was hilarious but effective. The breed was and is totally misunderstood because of some ignorant " back-yard breeders" and "trainers" who exploited the breed when Rotts were the flavor of the day a number of years ago. I have a tee shirt that says " Rottweiler, you have to own one to understand".

You might want to check around your property for this, Nightshade plants. POISON if eaten; grows as a vine and is very invasive. Very common around these parts. Keep Maple away from them.

He got fingers in his butt today....anal glands needed squeezed. Poor guy :(

God love a vet that does that for $29 after tax. I told them they should charge more.

If that's not a "leave it" moment, I don't know what is. Until you can make her drop her favorite toy instantly, keep working that leave it command ws.
