I've been thinking about getting a rain gauge - somehow using a straight side and bottom bowl just seems to be hokey. Plus, when it's overflowing at 2", it makes semi-accurate measurements not so easy. However, using the bowl method, I do know that I got less than 1/4" all of yesterday.
We put the rain gauge out at 11:00 am on 8/16/16 and the temp was 64 with the humidity at 99 percent, I missed about 6 hours of rain that day. I checked the gauge at 9:00 a.m. on 8/17/16 and the temp was 64 with the humidity at 99 percent, we had 0.75 inches of rain.
Daaaaammmm. I thought it was going to stop raining. It did. Then started again and has rained for the last two hours. We are getting soaked! (Oh wait. That's not going to be very good for digging the tranches for that barn foundation tomorrow! )
We did but we left early this morning for Syracuse so I'm not sure how much until I check the rain gauge in the morning. On the way back we stopped at Sergi's in Canton NY for a xlarge pie.
4' down for concrete footer. Decided to go with a block wall foundation rather than a pole barn. Stick building the walls, supports, and rafters. All Amish sawed lumber.
We've had a steady rain for a couple hours, with a lot more coming. Radar indicates some heavy bands moving in.
I'm about where that big yellow blob is west of ManchVegas. Got a decent amount of rain out of it by the looks in the bowl this morning.
I checked the rain gauge this morning, we had .75 inches of rain yesterday after we left for the day. Gasifier , it most of rained pretty good after we left yesterday.
I don't have a gauge. I should get one. But I would say we got that much or more here. I was looking out one window or another for a long time watching it come down.
I think we are at about 7" since the end of winter (the one without snow). Okay, not really, but we are so far down from where we should be that it seems like it.
The whole state was promised to get a little rain action this morning into early afternoon. Well, so far it's been a bust for my part of the state (both work and home). Dollars to donuts the couple of small green patches over by Keene will either dry up, or it will only be raining in the atmosphere (never touch the ground) Sure, there are a couple hours for it still to do something, but looking at the sequence on the radar, everything that we are in the path of disappears when it hits the VT border. Dang Vermonters hogging our rain
We had rain this morning, maybe on and off for 2 hours. From Sunday on, looks like a chance all week........
We got completely bypassed . In fact, I went out and took a nap on the bike at lunch time (can one temp Mother Nature any further than that?). Some small patches of blue sky are starting to break thru the overcast.
