If HF hand tools don't work and are cheap and have to be thrown away after each use I must have just imagined I pulled my tractor apart to replace the brake shaft seal, so just the brakes and pull the hub off to replace the wheel seal and colar and put o rings in the lift arms on the rock shaft. Yea I probably just drama that. Good thing my mind takes photographic images.

Oh outside of the pictures I must have dreamed that I had the 21 gallon vertical compressor from them and rubber air hose as well, feeding the air line that may be seen in the pics. I also deemed I had the 4" grinder with a wire wheel on it that I have had like 6 years that now just wears a wire wheel to clean gasket surfaces and clean welds(before I had the 4.5" grinder it use to do cutting duty as well) like when I dreamed I used my HF Flux welder to re weld the deck on my bushhog. I also dreamed I had about a 5lb HF dead blow hammer too that I got at christmas. I also may have a 3lb one that I beat the rubber off abusing it that they replaced for free with their lifetime warrenty. Also must of imagined that the HF calipers work and are accurate, the o ring kit has serviceable orings and the free magnetic parts dish also works.

Last pic pile of HF tools. Minus the impact that I go from father in law IR mabe? The impact sockets are from him as well assortment t of snap on and black hawk. The 1/2 pull bar is his too I think it's MAC and the air ratchet is just some other cheap brand everything else seen is HF. 20160815_190930.jpg 20160819_182859.jpg 20160814_141058.jpg 20160814_200003.jpg 20160820_134603.jpg

I have to agree, some of their stuff is garbage, some pretty decent. I have impact sockets from there that have been abused a lot with no problems...I've had really cheap (price) end wrenches that broke on the first use. Reading the reviews first is good advise. Now, as far as I'm concerned...some things are absolutely worth spending the money on when you want/need quality, like my Snap-On screwdrivers...love 'em.

Every hand tool there has a lifetime warrenty. It's been that way for about 8 years. They use to have some garbage hand tools prior to that but the stuff now is pretty good. It's not Mac or snap on or Matco or blueprint but it's better than walmart low price garbage or some other stuff I have had.

sure I have. I buy disposable items there or items I use very little or don't care if I use again. are you inferring that they have recently stop importing everything from China and now carry a quality line of tools? I was just in the store last week and I still see the same stuff. I wouldn't buy a shovel from them.

My dad told me something a long time ago that I'm just now starting to realize. cheap tools are expensive to own. more often than not, you going to be buying another one of the cheap tool you just bought when the first one breaks or stops working. buy quality and buy it once.

if you feel they carry quality items, than knock yourself out and keep shopping there.

There not quality like pass down to your kid tools, but for the average guy to have more tools than he could afford otherwise there fine. I am not a welder by trade and don't even do that much of it so there is no reason for me to have a $2500 and up machine or a $500 name brand hobby unit of the same kind.

I have had my $9 grinder almost a decade now done evert hinges I wanted it too and used it as often as I need. I don't use one every day. I think I am close to the same cost per year to own it as if I spent $90 on one from lowes that's still from china at the same time period.

They have their place. I am not saying as a professional mechanic it would make sense to have a whole box of them or as a builder to show up on a job with a truck full of HF tools, but for someone like me that does a lot of my own work it makes total sense for me to buy and use their tools when I can and there is value there to be had.

I bought a framing nailer there for about $100, it has worked flawlessly for lots of framing. My Predator generator is great, it will run my whole house easily, cost $459 + tax. I have their grinder, and it works fine. The chain sharpener has paid for itself already, and I see it going many more years. The 10" mitre saw is OK, not brag worthy, but it is earning its keep. The compressor and hose, no problems. The concrete mixer mixes concrete. All the above for less than half (a third?) what I would have paid for "quality." Yes, there is a difference, but I will keep the change, thanks. Running a business, I would maybe do differently on some of those, but for my limited use, all is well.

My 1/4 air ratchet and butterfly impact driver bought years ago, meh. Junk. Their current stuff might be better, who knows, but those cost me maybe $25? OK, I lost on those.

Country of manufacture makes zero difference to me.

I still want to get my hands on that 20 ton Predator splitter they sell. I am sure it is a great tool for the price!

Nor would I. I tend to break shovels, so I buy a heavier duty one.

Back in the day you use to be able to use the 20 &25% coupons on them. Now they say "can't be used on predator power equiptment":(

I have the predator wood splitter, I love it.
Some of their stuff is garbage, but I have plenty from HF that is good.
We also haul all of our wood at least once on their garden wagon. I had to replace the tires after two years, but the HF solid tires I put on it are nearly indestructible, just like the wagon

I have had my eye on getting a trailer from HF and building a box for it to haul wood.

Can't buy or build anything cheaper than those 4x8 trailers they sell. With wood you can overload them fast but offroad I wouldn't worry.

My friend has one that he pulls behind his Wheel Horse. I think it would do nicely for using with my 8N tractor to get wood up to the house. I would need to get a hitch for the tractor.

Does it not have a draw bar? Or I guess you will have to build or buy a frame that hooks to the 3pt and has a ball mount. I made one of these to move light trailers around the yard.

My drawbar got lost in the last move to this place and I never replaced it. There is a plate with a hole under where the power takeoff is located and I was thinking that would be the hitch point once I had everything together. However, I can see mounting the ball on the drawbar and going that route.
