Boy, you can say that again! I inherited a box of Blue tips when I bought this house and they lasted pretty well until I started burning wood 5-6 years ago. I was about to run out when I ran into a "deal" on some "strike anywhere" matches at Menards, something like 600 for $2-3. Boy are they some chinese crap! Some won't light without breaking, some light after 3-4 tries, some light while they are breaking...and then the flaming tip goes flying across the living room! :hair: That always makes you feel good when you just flicked a lil fireball across the room and you can't find it anywhere on the carpet! (seems like it is just the very tip and it must be burning up before it hits the floor) I have learned to light them in the direction of the stove! And FORGET about lighting them "anywhere", all this trouble and I'm using the striking pad on the dang box! Anyways, here is a pic of the box...looks to be from the mid 80s based on the date on the back label (1984) Looks there are people selling the empty boxes too! :faint:

I gave up on matches a while back...they don't make them like they used to. I use this now....

Thanks Scotty, you just brought back some fond memories for me. I used to hop up on my Grandpa's knee and light his Bugler cigarette that he just rolled with one of those blue tips. While I was visiting Grandma always made sure I had an ice cold bottle of Orange Crush and it wasn't long before I couldn't stay awake in the winter because the old pot belly stove was chugging along in the living room.

I love collecting old stuff, to me, the boxes are just as valuable as the matches. More so even. Awesome find.:fire:
