Friend in NY said she got 8-10" yesterday. We had 2 severe cells move thru late afternoon and into the evening (and a 3rd, less sever cell late night). Between the first two cells I got over 4" of rain. Put out some straight sided, 2" deep cat dishes (1 for measuring, the other as a control) . After the first cell was done dumping rain I went to check and they were overflowing (so I don't know how much that one actually dumped). Emptied them out and checked again after the second cell. This time they were only full. Emptied them out and this morning had another 1/4" from the 3rd storm - it was all lights and sound apparently. Picture is after the 2nd cell went thru - didn't think to take a pic the first time. The sad part is that it has been so dry that I just checked the swamp next door and there is no water running to the culvert.
I never did check the rain totals on NOAA earlier, Tuesday we could get dumped on pretty good. Gasifier , if we get the rain NOAA is forecasting on Tuesday, the brook will be running at a much higher level for a few days. Tuesday Showers likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 76. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. Tuesday Night Occasional showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 64. East wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
For here, 70% chance, but with a couple days, things can change around a lot. Tuesday A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Tuesday Night Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Wednesday A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
We got dumped on up to camp over the weekend, and got next to nothing at home where it so sorely needed.
It rained every single day here. I was woken up this morning at about 5:00 by one of the loudest thunderstorms I remember, a real window shaker! Couldn't get back to sleep because there's still one dead ash tree I haven't taken down that MIGHT just be tall enough to clip the corner of the bedroom if it snapped near the base. I'm thinking about renting a cherry picker soon to take it down, starting from the top. It's got a nasty "Z" like bend at the bottom so I'm not gonna risk tackling it without topping it first.
We just received a steady rain, but only for about a half hour. Didn't even show up on the radar........
I got woke up around 3AM to a downpour. Didn't last very long though. I checked my neighbor's wunderground station and it says we got .45" in 15 minutes.

thewoodlands . Where is a good place to see prior rainfall amounts? For instance, I wanted to see how much rain we received last Friday and Saturday.
