Wow, she seems all grown up now. What you and she went through getting to this point! Now that she is settled, it can only get better for the both of you. Does she still need supervision when she is outside?

He did fantastic, was a perfect guest. He did get a little "antsy" starting @ noon of the last day. He really missed his "brother". It was quite the show out in the driveway when they saw each other. They are impressive animals though. This particular one was a rescue when he was three and tends to be somewhat cautious around new people. Had to laugh because he totally ignored my wife, who is one of the biggest dog lovers I know. He is a "guy" dog, even @ his home. I'd take him again anytime for sure.

She has matured quite a bit, and yes, she can run about on her own. I sometimes put a bell on her, same when we went upland hunting just to hear where she is. Compared to when she was younger, she is much better. She found the raspberry bushes and eats only the red ones, and only when I'm down the mountain with her. I've read that they can create digestion problems, so i only allow a few. Amazing how she only goes for the ripe ones or the black berries. Another thing she is getting into is fallen apples. I did not know where she was getting them, then finally I saw her and the tree I never knew existed. I've read mixed reviews on apples. They really help clean teeth, but the seeds are questionable. The "sportdog" e collar had been wonderful. A simple "beep" if she does not come on command. She is a great dog!

I am happy for both of you. She had her moments that had you really stressed. I give my dogs Apples, but as you said, not the seed. I really don't think a little will hurt her. Many other animals eat apples and get along just fine. My dogs are eating raw carrots, peas in the pod, cucumbers, summer squash, some raw corn on the cob, watermelon, green beans, and some cooked cabbage. We don't make a meal of it, just some for them to chew on. So far, I haven't found her raiding the garden, but she is fed some while we pick the vegetables. I really think she is helping keep the ground hogs out. My older dog has given up any hunting. He just eats and lays around. And to think he came from a distinguished AKC line of champion hunters. :picard:He does follow my young grand daughter around. I don't think he would let any wild animal get near her. He can be very protective.

That's great savemoney! Dogs are the best!
Maple has already scarred off a bear in the middle of the night and is very protective of the property. She still has her cute moments, will disappear for a moment, then come frolicking with leaves she pulled of a tree......

Your pup probably gets excited when it's garden time. :D

We tend to give the pups different veggies too, it's a great healthy treat! :beerbbq:

We spent the day on the lake today. Beautiful weather for a boat day.

Fitting, as this picture was him sitting on the doghouse for the motor. He loves to hang out up there.

Apple and peach, cherry and apricot seeds contain amygdalin, a precursor to hydrogen cyanide. The hydrogen cyanide can be produced by the digestion of the seed if the seed is broken while chewing. Not really a big deal as the dog would have to ingest a LARGE quantity of seeds to produce enough poison to overwhelm their natural ability to detoxify the toxin. My Hounds eat my apple cores all the time...they are big fans of blueberries too.:)

If you don't weaken from the winters, you won't be able to move away. These rural northern New England towns are life as life should be. Calm, fewer Nanny folks. The extremes in the weather helps keep a lot of bad elements out.

We've been planning this for 8 years. We lived in a nice area, but it was getting to built up and busy. We enjoy winter sports, and until my body says no more..... ill be playing in it.

Maddie tagged along with me when I stopped at a job site today. While I worked she helped the neighboring farmer by doing a yield survey.

From her point of view, she reported that this year's crop is a total loss. :)
