Uhhhhhh,,,,NO-it's unnatural, sitting and shifting rounds to and fro risks back strain/injury more than properly bending and lifting, plus you get the benefit of the upper body workout and not just elbow curls...if it's too heavy to lift is the only reason they make them convertible, for that rare occasion. Unless your BeechNut and have honey hole cubed red oak out the ying yang-how often do you cut what you can't lift into the cart or truck? All good my friend, love the banter...Hope the good Lord lets me live to enjoy splitting "the other way"-Now back to your regularly scheduled program :campfire:

    Agreed......on many points.
I myself split horiz when I'm able to run the saws and load the truck.
My wife pounds concrete all day, so when she is on splitting duty, she prefers to "rest" her bottom. I usually push rounds to her in this scenario.
But, it's all good- we all do what fits:thumbs:
Of course, there has been some time since any cutting/splitting here has happened

Welcome Mook , as the official (not really) elected ( actually, I wrote myself in) ambassador of the New England region, I welcome you to the FHC. Everyone always talks about Maine Lobsters, NH lobsters are sweeter. And, the wood in NH has twice the BTU's of the wood over to Maine, it's true. Just ask me. . Glad to meet you!:handshake:
