If the question arises about whether you split horizontally or vertically, answer "yes", then start discussing the weather to distract them. 5. Welcome to the forum Mook As you can see we have a few crazies on this forum but they are all good guys. But don't believe schlot. When splitting wood, it must be vertically. After all, that is how the tree grows which means it is God's way. So stay away from horizontal splitting. Hope you can get another wood stove. Heating with wood is really great and we love being warm all winter and not breaking the bank to do it. btw, we keep our house at 80 degrees all winter! Love it.
