Been lurking for a while and thought I would join in on the action. A little about myself. I worked in the mining industry for 33 years. I love hunting, fishing, gardening and do a little trapping. Been married to my beautiful wife for 35 years. We don't keep a big hoard of wood around, just enough for the fire pit. Hope to make some new friends and enjoy this great site.
Welcome Mook. Make sure you post pics in the game room of some of your kills. I'm an outdoors man myself. Big time hunter here. You'll fit in good here. These guys are great.
Hey Mook , welcome aboard. What stove do you have, what kind of wood do you burn......all the usual questions. If you don't know what they are, don't worry, we do.
Welcome to da club Mook ! If you've been lurking you know we are big on the :stacke: around here. Pics are a plus too. Glad you decided to join up!
Welcome Mook - You're gonna like it here, I guarantee it. If you've been lurking, you've been learning...and know to watch out for that guy in Wythville, he's a nut! Nice to have another Mountaineer on board and I'm a whitetail nut also...Where are you located?
Welcome to FHC, Mook. If it's wood related, you'll find it here. Sounds like you checked off all the boxes with liking hunting, fishing and trapping too. Now, if we can just convince you to get a woodburner for the house, we'll make a wood hoarder outta ya!
I be the direct resemblance of that comment..... Mook, we're glad you've joined the conversation and eager to see some pics And if you're driving through or near Wytheville, gimme a shout or start a convo with me ("Inbox" tab up top) and we'll meet up and talk trash about Ashwatcher
Thanks for the warm welcome folks. When the wife and I married back in 1981 we had a King wood burner. I wish I still owned it...a great stove at the time. We burned...I'm guessing around 4 cords a winter. We purchased a new home in 1994 and we let the buyer keep the wood burner. I have a cord of crib ends split, stacked and seasoned for the fire pit at the moment. I have room for another cord but, it's been to hot to get out and cut. We were out riding our side by side the other day and found a nice beech and black birch down. Just waiting on cooler weather to go get it. Ashwatcher, we are from Boone County.
Welcome to FHC Mook ... Glad that you finally decided to go ahead and be active here. Sounds like you'll fit right in. In the fall you'll see quite a few backyard burners threading up.
I like crib ends! and beech is by far my favorite wood to burn. hot like oak and not near as l0ng to dry.
Welcome to the club, Mook. And thanks for joining up and jumping in! I think you're gonna fit in just fine around here. But , I've gotta warn ya, this place gets a little crazy sometimes. And there are some enablers here that will help feed your addiction... How did you find us?
Thanks TurboDiesel, I found the site searching the Net. If I remember right, I was looking at firewood pictures on a Google search and came across the site.
Welcome aboard the crazy train Mook! If you went as far as posting, you're definitely in the right place!
