Put some motor oil in a squirt bottle , like dish soap or something, squirt some in the kerf , some ahead of kerf , cut an inch or so, stop, relube , repeat.
Also when you stop for a short time to lube the blade will cool some.
The lube will help a whole lot keeping the blades from dulling so quick, heat kills blades, bits , cutters , lube keeps em cooler

All right. Heading down to Amish country today, and I'll see if the hardware has some cutting oil and blades too.
While we're on the subject of cutting metal, who's got a recommendation for a countersink bit.

Shop IRWIN 1/2-in Black Oxide Twist Drill Bit at Lowes.com
Chances are you're not going to do another one of these next week, so you shouldn't have to blow a big chunk of coin on one.
I would chuck it up in a drill press IAAP..... and use cutting fluid on this operation too.:D

Thanks Eric. That's more in line with what I had in mind.
I did find a couple at the local hardware for about $40.
I don't mind spending money on good tools, but not for something I'll likely use only once or twice.
Yep, I'll be chucking that up in the floor drill press after drilling holes. I may try tapping for machine screws as well, so I'd need the cutting oil for that too.
I "inherited" a tap and die set from my ex-SIL. :dex:

For flathead screws you need a 82 degree countersink bit.. If you can find them black oxide flathead allen head bolts would look great..

Yep, like I said, my crude prototype worked very well, but was flimsy.
This should not only work better, but look nicer as well.

It's going to look sweet when you're done.
For tapping those holes, to get them started straight I use a block of wood like a piece of 2 x 4, drill a hole the size of your tap on the drill press in the wood block, put the block on the stock insert tap and get it started straight.

    Ok, so here's today's haul.
Apple pie, pineapple squares with cream cheese frosting, oatmeal raisin cookies, and oh yeah, some other stuff.
I found the 82 deg. countersink, and just for Ray.....cutting oil. Is this ok, Ray? Ran into a guy in the store who told me bacon grease works real well too.
I don't eat a whole lotta' bacon though, so I figured I better get this.

Couldn't find the screws/bolts I wanted, but I have another couple places to look before hitting Google.

Some truth to that...IIRC, you have to do something to it first though...add other things in, or let it separate, I don't remember.
The oil you got should work fine.
Nice haul! I bet any one of those blades will cut that pie easily!

That......will require a pic. Cos I don't think you could unseat that pie from its tin and mash it into you mouth like some sort of sweet Gyro......
But I bet you could try:whistle::thumbs:

Great haul on the pertinent items, Dave. Can't wait to see the final/ finished product. Probly have to wait for the food coma to subside, eh?:D
