Heading out to rent a trencher to bury the elec line from the cottage to the garage.
Hope all goes well. May have power in the garage this evening!

From the other day on the back porch. Thinning trees from the spoiled one's pasture.

This is what everyone in my area has been talking about for the past few days:

    LockportFireRealDronePhoto2_1470882360197_5016242_ver1.0.jpg

Mother: Son missing, may have been trapped in Lockport fire

Wednesday evening, a massive fire broke out at a tire recycling plant less than a mile from the building I work in. I could see the plume of smoke from my house over 30 miles away, and I can still smell it today in the parking lot at work.

The word around town is that it was started by a group of teenagers; one of whom may have had a 'crisis of conscience' and became trapped inside while trying to put it out.

Over 200 volunteer firefighters from 28 companies, along with 40 pieces of equipment were deployed to battle the fire. And they got a huge amount of support from the community; with people bringing food, water, and even helping to carry fire hoses.

Sucks when dumb choices as a kid end up being so reckless for all.

I wish it were that interesting. It's just a small fixer upper...upper...upper in the middle of town.

My wife dubbed it the lodge because it's where I stay when I work in central Iowa and I've decorated it to my manly tastes.

Heck my "lodge" doesn't even have a wood stove! I keep watching Craigslist for a cheap wood stove though. The floor plan of this house lends itself to a wood stove a lot better than our other house.

Pool table! Pool table! Pool table!

We must take time to have fun too. Sometimes do less work and more play!

Ummm....bandsaws are way more fun than a pool table...at least for this guy.

I like wood working equipment myself. But I have to start "stopping and smelling the roses" more often. (For lack of a better term.) I enjoy taking on, working on and completing projects. But I am realizing that life is going by fast and don't want to work all the time. I need to go hiking more and see those top of mountain views, go biking more, fishing with wife and kids more, playing games with wife and kids more, and .......

This stack is alongside the house. I bet I could split oak in the spring and have it ready by fall at these temps. Maybe an experiment for next year.

Not all projects are work. Some are about teaching your kids lifetime skills. Others are building something your family will enjoy for years.

I don't disagree with what you are saying but work can be fun and allow you to bond with your kids.

Off today and decided to do the drivers side balljoints on my truck (passenger side donea few weeks ago). Well that turned it me cutting off a tie rod end, smashing 3 fingers, bruising my forehead, and making another parts run. Fun fun fun... :wacky:.

That would be a pretty good day for me...I probably would have managed to cut off a finger instead of the tie rod. :)

This is true. A day with my son on the tractor is always a good day.
