Hope you get some rain, but not the gully washers and the wind. Seems we can't get one without the other. It is so dry here, I could hear wood snapping in the trees. Don't know what that means for us, but I am sure nature will show us.
It's really bad here too. Especially in my little 3 city area I live in. We're supposed to get an inch of rain late tonight the tomorrow mid day. The afternoon rain that hit many other places around us, fizzled out, yet again and we didn't get a drop Week 3 of no lawn mowing. It can't grow with no rain.
The afternoon rain MAY get here tonight in a couple hours, but it doesn't look like it'll last. Might rain again tomorrow. A nice steady rain for a couple days would be real nice about now.
Last time we had summer this dry, and this year is worse, neighbor had to drill a new well, I'm hoping it doesn't happen to me
All day soaking here. Either sprinkling/drizzle or just regular rain. Nothing that could be called a downpour, just all day long. Good.
We are in a " critical " drought here, the well is only 16 feet deep. it has gone dry on me 3 times in last 36 years. Each time it has come back within a week of rain. We know that it is that situation again, and we are filling jugs and stockpiling water for the inevitable. Ah, country living, it hardens the soul. At least we have plenty of wood.
Most of my grass has been brown for several weeks. I mowed last weekend just because a few weeds got uppity - I've been mowing every 3 weeks or so for the last 2 months. Even the swamp next door is dry above ground. Last I heard we are 7.5+" below average and the Governor has requested disaster assistance for farmers. My crabapple and several other trees that have been here for at least 20 years are turning their leaves (and no, it isn't pretty) because they are so stressed from the dry. I'm watering shrubs/perennials that I planted in a moist area last year so I don't lose them because it sure ain't moist now. My hydrangeas, although getting enough moisture since they are right next to the swamp, are refusing to set out buds for blooms. I'm just happy that they are alive since I just planted them last year (and they bloomed last year several times). The good thing about the dry is I think it is helping with my fight against poison ivy - last weekend is the first time I haven't seen any new sprouts and all the old stuff has stayed dead
My version of the rain dance - I rode the bike into work this morning to temp Mother Nature to give up the goods
About six this morning the rain came down pretty good but stopped about five minutes ago, we'll take it.
I know that isn't actual totals because I guarantee that none of Concord, NH and south has gotten any rain today. In fact, not a cloud in the sky.
That's a total for about three St. Lawrence County under flash-flood watch; up to seven inches of rain expected to fall by Sunday evening St. Lawrence County under flash-flood watch; up to seven inches of rain expected to fall by Sunday evening | NorthCountryNow
