Was the new job not as good to need to sell your wood pile? I'd help ya out but I think the drive up there wouldn't be the best use of my time?
No just as extra insurance. It sounded good at the time! Brother your at the top of my list of people to meet! You got a big heart my friend I'd love to shake your hand someday.....
I'd love to meet you and about a 100 others on this site. Just too far geographicly for me to go. I know some of yall will drive to these things , but is just too far and would keep me from my family too long to do them right now. Maybe when my boy is older I can make it to one up there maybe in Ohio (since like a 1/3 of the members seem to be from there ! Ha) and meet some of you all. Yes Pete I know your in Michigan. Hehe
Yes it's gone... Sad but my current truck does fine at a much higher mileage rate almost 3 times better. Got a hell of a deal on it too! Chevy Silverado now.
I have an appointment friday morning , I could come out when you have free time and help ya get some wood split up
Yea I know what you mean. But I just love my old beast of a truck. I grew up wanting one that body style. I don't think I can give it up. Sure many new trucks can get better empty MPG but loaded there all about the same. My old k10 gets around 8 to 10mpg loaded with the same trailer my sequoia gets 10mpg pulling. My new work truck is a v6 4x4 Ram 1500 and it will get 23mpg empty on the highway. Highway not interstate. I don't ever tow with it so I have no idea what it does towing.
damm oil has been creeping up in price again around my area. Last year I used oil most of the winter because it was so cheap. At least I got another year on the stacks though.
Haha! I would hear it go off at night and knew the fire burned down. I would run downstairs and shut the furnace off and refill the stove. I didn't like hearing that furnace going off either.
It's funny. I have plenty of firewood. My friends all laugh at how much firewood I have. Yet every year I worry that I won't have enough. .
Same here. And I live in SC. They all think I'm crazy. But when it's so cold heat pumps don't work and or the power goes off. There not laughing anymore. I crank my genny up plug in the insert blower and turn my tv and satellite on and watch TV in the 80F room.
I have a heat pump too. I'm in Lancaster Pennsylvania. We get some pretty cold days here too and the heat pump doesn't know what to do about it lol. I have two woodstoves and when the wind starts blowing hard they both do work.
My house has very poor insulation. It gets down to like like 28 or so and the heat leaves the house faster than it can go into the house.
Ya well I didn't exactly leave it stock ... Empty was about 7mpg.. I built it to pull trees out of the woods... High torque 350, high rise high flow intake, double pumper holly, performance filter basket, high flow drag fan, performance gold tip electronic distributor, high insulation wires, custom exhaust system, swept back headers, 410 Dana axles, very deep mud n snow tires and a lot more on top of that. I pretty much built it from the ground up. That truck pulled like a beast but brother I literally get 3 times the mileage on my new truck lol. It is definitely missed though I love that old beast. I can't find the pic with the holly but that's the 4 barrel 750 cfm eddelbrock I used for a while. This was right before the engine swap... I had done some suspension beefing to it. My Silverado has the 4.8 and gets pretty close to 21 mpg freeway. It's really impressive and because I don't pull trees much anymore the 4.8 pulls just fine. When it's pulling I get about 14mpg. It can pull well too. Not the put you through the back window power the k15 had but plenty to get it done... I have tool issues so it's become a hobby! I'm about to install a turbo and cold air on the Silverado. Got the turbo free so why not!
I think these are my three favorite pics of the old beast! If you look way up the hill you can see AC and my trucks with a couple huge trailers. We where cutting the world down that day....
