You guys are fortunate to have had your grandfathers. I'm positive they helped build character in you. I grew up with only my paternal grandmother still alive. She also lived to 89 and died in her sleep. Three months before our first son was born. The strange thing is that she had bought a blue blanket for him before she died without knowing whether or not he was going to be a boy. Back in ’81 they didn't have ultrasound that could tell what sex the baby was. It was just a blurry image. But, my grandmother knew all along what we were having. There was no doubt in her mind.

That's a GREAT story Al! The older generation had knowledge of things, that's for sure:)

I'm sorry for your loss, mr overkill. And yes, from where I sit, those stacks look spectacular. I've gotta jump on this- he who makes ones own skids bandwagon. Definitely the way to do it.

And no I'm not talking about those kinds of skids...  I figured I'd say it before Eric got to it.

I'm a little late to the thread as I've been away on vacation for the past 9 days. I'm sorry to hear about your losses Scotty Overkill and Eric VW . Grandparents hold a special place in our lives, unfortunately the only grandpa and grandma I knew died in 1968 and 1970 respectively. Way to early, But I live in their house now and know they smile down on me as I grow vegetables in the same spot my grammy did, and process my wood in the same spot my grandpa did. And 43 cords, dang!!!!!

Thanks buddy, that means alot! I'm in a similar situation, I own my Great Grandpa's place that he and my Great Great Grandpa built back in the late teens-early twenties. It's a warm feeling keeping that attachment to something your family built close to you.
